Jags (Denard) in London Oct 27
At some point over Denard's Michigan career I decided I would follow whichever team drafted him. So I checked out the Jags schedule to see if they had any interesting road games, since J-ville is not exciting to me, especially after the Gator Bowl a couple years ago.
However, I noticed they were playing SF in London on Oct 27. There are plenty of reasons to go including: going to London in itself, although expensive is fun, an NFL game experience in another country and supporting Denard being the genesis of the trip ends up being an ancillary benefit.
I'm curious to know if anyone has planned on going or might be interested in taking a group trip.
might i say that the knot claspers on your foot wrappers are loosened to the point of being untied?
I just returned from London recently. Great experience. There is actually an unofficial alumni group there, which has a Facebook page. It might be a good place to find some others who would enjoy going.
If you decide to pursue this I can help put together the trip for you with hotel, official NFL tailgate, game tickets, etc.
You can contact me through my site (www.SportsPowerWeekends.com) if you are interested.
Would be a great experience.
Can you imagine Denard on the futbol field? He'd be faster than everyone. Only problem is his shoe might go flying when he takes a shot.
Jags/Niners? No thanks.
Sounds like the Jags may be using him like the Pats used Woodhead...RB, but some plays out of the backfield or motioned to slot.
Denard will be missed in AA.
I'd read this earlier today and wanted to post it but do not yet have such authority. It's exciting to read the reaction he's getting from some teammates on his early practices.
I would love to go. I have family in Wales and love stopping in London everytime I travel there. I will say that you can do London at a reasonable cost if you lok hard enough. The tube is great in London as well. Of all the big cities I have been in the London tube is the best underground/subway system I have ever used. It would be a great trip and I hope anyone going enjoys the city as much as I do. Good luck!
I live in Europe ...
The 27 october is my birthday.
Definitely need to go !
I might be interested in a meetup of some kind for this.
The hardest part of navigating London is making sure you look to the right when crossing the street.
I was there five years ago, and most of the cross streets had big letters painted onto the street, "LOOK RIGHT"
It was idiot American/European proof.
the idea of an NFL game in England is bad enough, but when it involves the Jags its even worse.
is officially in "throw shit at the wall and hope something sticks" mode.
I think the only thing that will stick is a move to LA.
Seriously, of all teams to play consistently in London, the NFL sends the Jags? They are probably the worst possible team to go there and represent American football. However, given that they are near the bottom in home attendance in the league, the NFL probably has the least to lose by taking their home games.
Florida has a great reputation among Britons. Disney and Florida are a destination spot for vacationing Brits. In that regard, the Jags might not be a terrible choice as far as name recognition.
I think if the Jags do crappy this year and get the #1 pick and take Clowney the Jags could have 2 of the most exciting future players in the NFL for years to come.
