Jacob Trouba takes nasty fall, reportedly okay.

Submitted by justingoblue on

Up in Winnipeg, former Wolverine hockey player/budding NHL star Jacob Trouba had some unfortunate luck and took a nasty fall Friday night. As anyone can imagine, the distance his fall started from is about the worst possible; thankfully he wasn't "aided" by an opponent or anything because this might have been much worse.

He managed a thumbs up on the way off the ice and reportedly had control of all extremities through the evening, culminating in his release from the hospital at about 1:30 Eastern. Not included in the video is the Blues showing a lot of class and fans chanting his name later in the game (which they would go on to win).

Thanks for the support. If you were wondering, the boards are not edible. I'll be back soon. #gojetsgo

Thankfully he doesn't duck his head and took it on the face rather than the top of the head. Could have been a broken neck otherwise as you're right, worst possible distance/speed.

Went over someone's foot into the boards. I compressed a vertebrae (didn't break, lucky me) and that wasn't fun, so I'm glad he's okay. Obviously this could have been much worse.

Seems like it's been a rough couple days for the NHL, between the hits on Jack Johnson, Dan  Boyle, Justin Schultz and Niklas Kronwall.  Obviously, this thing with Trouba was definitely not a hit, but it's another guy leaving the ice on a stretcher.
