Good way to get to know the kid...seems like a good guy.

Is that he rises too high in the NHL entry draft and they bring him up right away. Hopefully he gets drafted by a team who is loaded with blueliners.
Defensemen are less likely to get called up to the NHL level right after they are drafted. It's a much tougher position to learn than forward is. All of the defensemen lately to stick with the NHL team (Doughty, Fowler, Bogosian, and Schenn, as far as I can remember) all came through the CHL. Unless he walks into a totally dire situation, I think they'll let him get some seasoning at a higher level of competition than he sees in the NTDP before they bring him up.
That may be true, but whoever drafts Trouba may decide that the higher level of play doesn't come in the NCAA, but in Canada. As for the competition that he is seeing with the NTDP, the U-18 team is probably one of, if not the best U-18 team that has played. They are loaded with talent, much of which is destined for Michigan. The U-17 team also has a couple of Michigan commits that are going to be a lot of fun to watch.
I would love to see this U-18 team play against the 2004-05 team that had Phil Kessel, Pat Kane, JMFJ, Erik Johnson, and others.
But yeah, there's always a risk that a team *cough* *cough* Los Angeles *cough* pushes Trouba towards the OHL. There's also a risk that whatever team drafts him lays him a decent offer to play in the AHL for a few seasons. But here's hoping that he legitimately wants to come to Michigan and play for at least a season.
a really down to earth guy that I want on my team. I can't wait for him to get on campus and replace Merrill.
Thanks for posting the link! I definitely looking forward to Trouba and Boo Nieves playing at Michigan.
