but does anyone else think he quit because Harbaugh was too tough?  I know this is nutty speculation, and I'm not trying to be mean, but I always got the feeling that JM was a fun loving guy and maybe he was all "yeah, I'm outta here" when Harbaugh showed up, all 'time to work with an enthusiasm known to mankind' attitude.

But my guess to that question is no.  If he was already thinking about it and was pretty much out the door, even the hiring of a coach like Harbaugh probably couldn't change his mind.  IF he had thoughts of playing on Sundays, I imagine that the prospect of a 5th year under JH would have been helpful to him.  As it was, I'm thinking he knew he wasn't on that path and decided to leave anyway.

Seemed very humble and bright to me. We were at same hotel in SLC and pregamed with Jack and his buddies (OSU fans) before going to the stadium and then hung out at SLC together for a while before flying out, respectively. We swapped business cards and I offered to help if possible as he continued his FS career.

Still in touch and swap messages now and then through the season.

I asked him about the Minny 'concussion' game and Hoke and he took the high road and didn't say much but he did talk about getting out healthy and brain intact.

Good dude, wish him well at Toledo.

The S7 is as much an endurance test ad it is a test of intell - it's long and many repeated concepts just worded differently.

I'd say take a prep course and get the options tree down pat. Otherwise it's really just whether you can stay patient during such a long exam.

I have S6/7/63/24 - the 24 was incredibly hard

I found the S6 a little like this, very situational and tested your application of a concept, not just memorizing it.

Yes, your assessment is very consistent with what I've been told.  Options are a big deal, apparently.  CFP is my eventual goal, so trying to rack up the certifications is a goal.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do just fine. Once you get options down you'll want those questions.

Some of the Muni Bond & Tax related questions are pretty dry as are the questions on the regulatory side - 40 Act, etc

So you must work for a Finra firm if you've taken what you have and are looking to take more, right?

Yes very best of luck to you with the S7. That's the only exam that I've ever failed in all of my scholastic and professional test taking. I studied for it for 4 months and it was a beast. I also did everything that Kaplan instructed me to not do in order to pass. I crammed without breaks, I studied non stop. I didn't rest well or eat the morning of the exam. I didn't stop testing or studying until like 4 am the morning of. I went in and the first half of the exam was wonderful. The second half I must have drawn a complete blank because everything on the screen looked foreign. Options are great questions to help boost a score once you understand the concept of them. Definitely an exam of endurance. Good luck. Preparation is key.

I now have the 6/63 7/65 and had the 24 but stopped with the managing. CFP is a pretty cool designation. Good luck on your schooling and exams!

I can relate.

I did not pass the S24 on first run after getting 80s (aka, "over studying") on the 6,7,63

24 was the first test I failed in my life and was in my 40s ...same, I'd crammed and studied but the test kicked my ass.

On second run 32 days later I crushed it but it was brutal. I spent the month between fail/pass running every day, studying for 4-5hours max and quit drinking alcohol altogether for the month.

Yeah the 24 was a very odd test. More about knowing what to not do rather than knowing anything about what needed to be done. REIT stuff was an interesting refresher though.

I was so in shock when I didn't pass the 7. It shook me to my core. I was sitting there wondering what was life about haha. I only missed it by 1 point and after talking to the testing center. They said I probably passed it if I hadn't changed answers and just stuck with my first mind. It happened... I learned my lesson. Studied and took a break and if I knew it I knew it (which I did immediately after taking the first exam). LOL I was reciting shit back to the scorer asking her to let me try again because I knew it.

Luckily I had other things to keep me busy for that month of agony waiting to retest.

"I've always had a knack for coaching," Miller said today. "I’ve been heavy on the cerebral side of the game and this is a great opportunity to expand on that and to influence young men."

It sounds like a pretty neat opportunity for Jack and hopefully it works out for him. Even better, he gets to do it more or less down the street from home - I believe he is a native of Perrysburg.

My only comment on this is the same thought I had when I first heard Jack Miller's name. That would be an awesome alter ego name if I were a superhero
