Jabrill signed by Browns
So happy for him.
Great to have Michigan more prominently represented in the NFL--I'm guessing that representation will only increase over the next few years.
Hahahahaha you said "Browns fan."
For the commitment. That must take some mental fortitude!
Hasn't been easy to say, either.
Good luck Peppers!

Hey! The Lions have at least made the playoffs... so it's a little better.
Just let me have this one!
Sorry... gonna be that guy.
Since 1957, the Lions have won 1 playoff game.
In the same time period, the Browns have won SEVEN.
The Lions suck more!
You want to give me Michigan and two points comrade?
Only four more years until free agency when he can escape Cleveland.
Season-ending injury in his last bowl game, now this.
Dear Jabrill,
Save 50% of that money over the next four years, and no matter what happens thereafter, you can live quite comfortably without ever working again. PLEASE take this advice.
Sincerely,
FauxMo, CFP
can't just save, gotta invest!
Well, I wasn't expecting him to put the money in a no-interest savings account or under his matress. ;-)
IDK, I might take that signing bonus as a huge sack of kruggerands. Because that would be cool.
This applies to everybody, except for that next four years part. It might take a little longer until the "live quite comfortably without ever working again" thing would kick in but I wish everyone would strive for a 50% savings rate.
$10 million will probably net half that (very roughly) after taxes, agents, etc. That's $5 million. If he can invest $2.5 million over 4 years in even a reasonably safe investment, and then find something to earn income for 5-10 years (assuming football is totally off the table), then he can live comfortably forever thereafter. At 3% ROI (which is terribly low), he'll have $3.4 million by his early 30s. If he did a 5% draw on that per year thereafter, he'd have an annual salary of about $170,000 the rest of his life without ever working. Now, that's not living like a fat cat millionaire (i.e. living like most NFLers do), but that's quite a bit of money...
I feel like I'm on /r/financialindependence or Mr. Money Mustache right now. Love this blog.
RIP Jabrill, glad you waited about as long as you could
Invest wisely and have a long and injury free career!
Now go prove these folks calling you overrated wrong! Pro Bowl Peppers!
Best of luck to Jabrill, I hope he has a HOF career.
Good for Jabrill! Can't wait to see him play on Sundays.
...other than that whole "playing for Cleveland" thing.
Happy for the kid, and super glad it got done before training camp...
Really hoping Jabrill can prove the doubters wrong... kid is such an athlete that i think he'll be able to surprise some folks
They seem to be building a pretty good foundation for a team. If they can find a QB (Kizer?) they could be a contender in a couple years.
It wasn't popular, but they made the right decision by not forcing a trace for one of the mediocre QBs in the last draft. Now, they have Kizer and plenty of ammo to go get a top QB in next years deep and talented QB draft class. Looks like they are competently run now...better than the Tigers and Red Wings for sure...ugh
Said by every Browns fan for the past near 20 years.
I may actually watch a Browns game this year.
When they play the Steelers.
I was unaware that Peppers can be released from the failed drug test program after 90 days. Makes his diluted sample even less of an issue since he will only be tested once a year at a fairly designated point like the rest of the NFL. Less risk of having a similar situation occur down the road. Good news.
Here's hoping he can make it through a couple of years of hell in Cleveland injury free so he can be traded to a better franchise.
