Player (or any player in that state) I've been excited about inking his deal. I might actually try to watch a Browns game this year...but only if I know Peppers is playing. =)

This applies to everybody, except for that next four years part. It might take a little longer until the "live quite comfortably without ever working again" thing would kick in but I wish everyone would strive for a 50% savings rate.

$10 million will probably net half that (very roughly) after taxes, agents, etc. That's $5 million. If he can invest $2.5 million over 4 years in even a reasonably safe investment, and then find something to earn income for 5-10 years (assuming football is totally off the table), then he can live comfortably forever thereafter. At 3% ROI (which is terribly low), he'll have $3.4 million by his early 30s. If he did a 5% draw on that per year thereafter, he'd have an annual salary of about $170,000 the rest of his life without ever working. Now, that's not living like a fat cat millionaire (i.e. living like most NFLers do), but that's quite a bit of money...

Here's the thing about people who didn't like Jabrill: If they were from Ohio, it was just about Michigan. Now that he's on the Browns, he was always great. Sparty fans will never be convinced, period. If he ends up not being a superstar in the NFL, "he was never any good." If he winds up being as great as we all hope, then there will be two schools of thought. 1) "he's so overrated, only because he went to Michigan." Or 2) "yeah he's ok now, but he sucked at Michigan"

Happy for the kid, and super glad it got done before training camp...

Really hoping Jabrill can prove the doubters wrong... kid is such an athlete that i think he'll be able to surprise some folks

It wasn't popular, but they made the right decision by not forcing a trace for one of the mediocre QBs in the last draft. Now, they have Kizer and plenty of ammo to go get a top QB in next years deep and talented QB draft class. Looks like they are competently run now...better than the Tigers and Red Wings for sure...ugh

I was unaware that Peppers can be released from the failed drug test program after 90 days. Makes his diluted sample even less of an issue since he will only be tested once a year at a fairly designated point like the rest of the NFL. Less risk of having a similar situation occur down the road. Good news.
