Jabrill Peppers - Winning over Ohio, one scrimmage at a time

Submitted by mGrowOld on

As predicted by yours truly the day he was drafted, our own Mr. Jabrill Peppers is quickly ending any of the" TSUN" hater nonsense from Browns fans & media through his play on the field.  Last night the Browns held an open scrimmage at First Energy and the two players that stood out the most were Myles Garrett and JP.

I've been telling everybody here since the day he put on his #27 #22 Browns jersey by seasons end he will be the most popular player on the Browns.  Even with those who wear their OSU crap to Browns games.

He sure returned a shit-ton of them for Michigan.  Did it worry you last year when he was doing it for us instead of the Browns?

BTW they didnt show it last night but the FIRST thing they worked on with Peppers in the Browns first practice was running the Wildcat offense.  Hue Jackson has said he wants the ball in Jabrill's hands 5-7 times a game.  Said he'd be "crazy" not to.

I've caught bits of it via footage captured by reporters there who posted on twtter.  Here's the cliffnote version:

1. Defense looked good but but disclaimers cause the offense looked terrible.  Garrett and Peppers stood out.

2. The Browns QB derby is still even.  They all sucked.

3. Brock sucked the leasted of them all and will prolly start to get some 1st team reps starting today.

4. Nobody got hurt.

On to the next one -New Orleans Thursday night.

Wasn't there some stat from last year that had the Lions linebackers not recording a single sack, forced fumble, or int? I liked that they addressed the linebacker position and secondary. As for Jabrill, I have no problem with the Brown's been good. Since I've live in Toledo I've gotten to watch browns and Lions games almost every Sunday. It can get depressing. I'll be pulling for him to help turn them around. I think Hue Jackson is the guy that can do it, but they may have to be willing to stick with him for a couple years

I agree with this sentiment fully, but I wonder how much OSU has benefited from the awfulness of Ohio sports. They've pretty much the been the only team in the state that wins and until Lebron won in Cleveland, there hadn't been a professional championship in the state in 26 years. It's sorta like how people say USC benefited from the lack of pro-football in LA. Thus, if Jabrill helping the Browns win can decrease the popularity of the buckeyes, I'm all for it.

Never really thot about before but I'll be the dismal performance of the Browns since the late 80's fueled much of the OSU "love" since then.  i mean you see people that went to OU, Toledo, BG, Cinci, Kent, Akron, you name it, all rooting for the fucking Buckeyes instead of their own school.

But I'll bet if the day ever comes (and hopefully it's coming soon) when the Browns are a good football team again that will start to diminish some.  That's an excellent point you made.

There will be a lot of GM's kicking themselves in the ass for buying into the "tweener" talk about Jabrill leading up to the draft.  Dude was one of the best football players in CFB last year.  A true football player is rare and he is going to be a great one in the NFL.

As a fellow Giants fan, I also would have been stoked, but we already have Landon Collins. Not that we couldn't also use Jabrill, but the Giants were one of the teams in the draft for whom Jabrill was the poorest fit. There were definitely areas of greater need to be addressed, although TE was certainly not the most pressing. Still super excited to see what Eli can do if all those weapons stay healthy!

It is your typical Ohio fan. Most loved Edwards until he got a case of the drops. It is such a tired take that only Ohio hates Michigan players. Michigan fans(many here) are as sad and petty as OSU fans.

I live in Ohio and sure I get ball busting for liking Michigan, but it is all in good fun minus a few dbags. Sorry to kill your sad negative narrative.
