Jabrill Peppers loses state 200m record

Submitted by I Like Burgers on

After seemingly running a state record 20.79 in the 200m on Friday, Jabrill Peppers had his record taken away due to a timing error.

``There was a shadow/body cast across the image that made it look like the runner was further in front than he was,'' said Lou Fraulo, the head of Fraulo Race Timing, who was working at another meet on Friday.

I have no idea how a shadow messes with the timing in a race (especially to the tune of .58s), but I guess this is a thing.  at least in New Jersey anyways.  So instead, he's credited with a 21.37, which is short of the record of 20.93 set in 2001.  So apparently, the only thing that can keep up with Jabrill Peppers is his shadow.

So, a 0.58 second difference at that speed equates to about 20 feet....

How the heck do you mess that up???????

Peppers' shadow must be tacopants

That shadow set the state record in the 200m dash, and no one is giving it credit.

Yet another instance of the establishment keeping the shadow man down.

Mattison will tell the shadow which pro-bowler he is reminded of and go from there. If anyone can coach up a shadow it is Hoke and Co.

This will be 11 warriors excuse when he doesn't commit to OSU. Urban pulled his offer because he wasn't fast enough. Seriously they talk about him like they still have a chance.

Not being a douche...(which I know is how most douche comments start off)

Can someone who's been around for awhile explain if this should be OT? Peppers is a big time target but he's not a commit. It also has nothing to do with Michigan or Football.

Honest question, it's a slow period so I couldn't care less. Also, it's properly titled (in terms of information) so clearly if you click on the thread...you're interested in the topic.

Just wondering for future threads.

anything about a potential recruit  who is favored to chose Michigan who is as ranked as high as this guy is not OT. i don't care if it's about what he ate for breakfast this morning. and though it is a light-hearted topic it is about speed, which is football related.

However, this post is:

  • About a highly rated potential Michigan recruit, thus toward on topic;
  • About his speed, which is on topic for the play of a DB

That content makes this pretty relevant, and not OT.

If the post was about:

  • you;
  • a generic 200m final with a shadow report;
  • a recruit who Michigan is not recruiting, who has shown no interest in Michigan;

that would be irrelevant and OT.

Did you really research to see that I hadn't posted in that thread?

Anyway, it sucks that I was geniunely asking a question not to poke fun or be an ass, but someone (in this case you) has to respond in a sarcastic manner.

Personally, I don't feel like everything related to a potenital commit or a targeted player is on topic. In fact, I didn't agree with most of the justification...HOWEVER. The "this is a follow up to an earlier thread" justification makes perfect sense to me.

Just one mans opinion. If you don't like opinions, you're in the wrong place.

When you start a post like you did, people will naturally go on the defensive to turn you into the douche you claimed you were not. It's something I'm quite guilty of doing myself. Anyways, any thread that relates to the University (sports or not), past, present and (potential) future U of M athletes, as well as past, present and future U of M opponents and rivals are not OT. So, that being said, your inquiry is not an unreasonable one, and to answer it, this thread is most certainly on topic.

Due to multiple light sources, Jabrill has two perceptible shadows, one ahead of him and one behind. However, the one ahead of him is far lighter than the one behind him, and it completely disappears by the time he gets close to the finish line, while the one behind him is still very evident. Unless the explanation has to do with finish line cameras that see things differently than is evident in the video, something's goofy here.

There's no shadow of a doubt that we need this kid?   I hope the other teams lurking in the shadows don't nab him....   Come on, help me out here.  You guys are experts at this!!
