Jabrill Peppers is a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award
He's one of 4 finalists! Vote for him here: http://louisvillesports.org/paul-hornung/award-poll/
November 19th, 2015 at 8:46 AM ^
Just voted. Based on early poll results, he is obtaining 96.69% of the votes - as he should.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:52 AM ^
Are you a Peppers hater? He should be getting all the votes...

Ha! Very well played. +1 to you for catching my stupidity.
To all, please excuse my hasty, ignorant initial comment. Indeed, he should absolutely be getting all the votes.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:47 AM ^
Looking good early, however it is to decide one of the 17 votes for the award. I expect him to win this award at some point, but maybe not this year.

Just a guess, is it an award for best 2-way player?
November 19th, 2015 at 8:51 AM ^
According to wiki it's for: Playing multiple positions on offense and/or multiple positions on defense
Playing a significant role on special teams
Performing as a two-way player who starts either on offense or defense and is used on the other side of the ball in some capacity
Making a significant impact during big games and elevating the team's performance through leadership displayed by excelling in multiple rol

Per the mission on the web site, the mission of the award is to recognize versatile, high-level performers in FBS. The award goes to "the most versatile player". I love that Jabrill is repping 97% of the vote currently.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:41 AM ^
According to website Owen Marecic was the inaugural receipient of the award in 2010. Harabugh coached teams will be winning this award for years to come.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:50 AM ^
is reaping 96% off the votes so far.
The other 4% are just wrong.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:53 AM ^
Odd that Will Likely isn't on there. I guess playing for a terrible team hurts your award chances.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:56 AM ^
I was surprised by that as well.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:00 AM ^
He just started getting offensive reps past few weeks.
The 3 guys they have there who make sense are Jackson (who plays more offense than Jabrill), McCafferty, and Pep.
Adoree had UM in his final group under Hoke and it would have been incredible to land both.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:23 AM ^
Yeah but he's the best special teams player of the bunch (not trying to throw shade at peppers, but the results are there). Not that the others are unsurprising, just would have thrown him in the mix.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:23 AM ^
So... it's not Likely?

You Will Likely have to wait to find out
November 19th, 2015 at 8:57 AM ^
Must slide along the DL a lot and has a couple blocked kicks or something.
But yeah, this is Jabrill's all the way. I'll say it first: Hello Hornung!!!
November 19th, 2015 at 9:02 AM ^
They've put him at RB/FB in goal line situations

I thought Nkemdiche caught a touchdown out of the backfield this year? 25 yard catch and run, if I recall correctly.
It was pretty impressive for someone close to 300 lbs.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:39 AM ^
Sounds like he scored on a play that was intended to deceive the opponent, because who throws to the 300 lb. guy?
November 19th, 2015 at 9:03 AM ^
They did it a fair bit early in the year, I think as a Fullback/TE. Got a few touchdowns, and one wasn't even from a goal line situation. Then he got a concussion playing offense, and I'm not sure they put him back on offense. But he's legitimately been a two-way player.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:22 AM ^
Strange aside: Nkemdiche is in the ICU for "unclear" reasons: https://olemiss.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1827693
November 19th, 2015 at 9:47 AM ^
Seems like he was missing for a day, and then when found was taken to a hospital. Not many benign explanations come to my head for that situation.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:06 AM ^
Agreed. Here's hoping for no long term effects.
November 19th, 2015 at 11:36 AM ^
It's Denzel Nkrmdiche who's in the ICU, not Robert (don't know if there's a relation). Still serious for the kid, obviously, but want to clear up any confusion.
November 19th, 2015 at 11:43 AM ^
Brothers.
November 19th, 2015 at 11:44 AM ^
Denzel is Robert's older brother.
November 19th, 2015 at 11:43 AM ^
Woop. Beaten to the punch. Hope the kid's ok.
November 19th, 2015 at 8:59 AM ^
It'll be a landslide victory after Jabrill channels his inner Woodson and wills Michigan to victory over OSU next week.

November 19th, 2015 at 9:15 AM ^
Are we cheating or something? He's gotten 500 votes in the last half hour or so. This is one we can win cleanly so I hope there's no cheating.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:33 AM ^
What with Ira's announcement on WTKA maybe a half hour ago, and the size of the MGoCommunity, 500 votes in a short space of time doesn't seem out of the question.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:36 AM ^
It's up another 400 since I posted, bringing Peppers close to 1200 while second place has 15. Just doesn't look kosher.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:01 AM ^
You are welcome to vote once every 24 hours, but I clicked "return to poll", and voted 10 more times.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:31 AM ^
Harbaugh also brought it up in his interview this morning on 97.1.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:34 AM ^
I think you underestimate how many mgobloggers are out there. I'm surprised he doesn't have one million votes already.
November 19th, 2015 at 10:50 AM ^
This thread has ~2600 views at the time of this comment. Not saying the votes are definitely legit, just an FYI.

Are still asleep, too.

It is interesting that the first player to win the award played for Jim Harbaugh as well.
November 19th, 2015 at 9:26 AM ^
And still climbing
November 19th, 2015 at 9:26 AM ^
How is he going to get the All-B1G love?
They need an "athlete" line.

Jabrill at 98.4% of the vote. Of course, two of the finalists are on the west coast so they are still waking up. Let's keep it going!
