Jabrill Peppers: CBS NFL 1st Round Pick Projection (Spoiler Alert: He gets to play with Denard)

Submitted by boliver46 on

As founder, chairman, AND president of the "One More Year Jabrill" foundation, I am disconcerted at NFL projections already making the way around The Internets.

I am further disheartened by the projections of WHERE he might go.

I wish to start a GoFundMe account to keep him in school and avoid being selected here...

Yes, I know...mock drafts be damned.

Their projection:

4. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jabrill Peppers, SS, Michigan: Entering a contract year, Johnathan Cyprien has yet to cement himself as a starting-caliber safety. An above average athlete, Peppers can do just about everything on the football field.

At least one person will be happy about this should it come to fruitiion.

p.s. Jabrill should be #1.  Obviously.

They mean above average for an NFL first rounder which is a group of elite athletes in it's own.  I'm pretty sure this is the context they mean.

I don't know if he'll go that high, but he's going to go really high. His film is incredible and his combo numbers will be eye-popping. I suspect his coverage skills are things that can be coached, and at any rate his hybrid space role is becoming a big deal in the NFL. He can transform a defense by joining the roster.

Some time in the offseason, I mentioned that there was zero chance that Jabrill would come back next year, because he is a lock to be picked in the first round (I think I was predicting top 15 at the time). And a couple of guys (not most people, granted) thought that was ridiculous.

Uh, it's not ridiculous.

There are a few people here who interpret a statement Jabrill made about not leaving until he "gets his degree." Which, I'm guessing, could happen - either by completing his coursework or actually staying another season.

I don't think either outcome above is likely because he will probably leave school after the bowl game in order to prep for the combine. And given his projections, this is exactly what he should do.

In the worst way.  This year's starting unit is Kelvin Beachum, Luke Joeckel, Brandon Linder, AJ Cann and Jeremy Parnell.  Not exactly a worldbeating group.  Although I'd be more than happy if they drafted Jabrill.  Might be the only thing that could get me to a Jags game.

As "As founder, chairman, AND president of the "One More Year Jabrill" foundation" you may have some competing views to your fine organization's official position.

Our running back coach, for example, is prolly founder, chairman AND president of the "if you're projected to go in the top five of the draft get the hell out of school NOW" foundation

Interesting that the mock draft also has Taco going to the Bengals at #27 and Butt to Green Bay at #29. That's the first time I've seen 3 Michigan guys projected in the first round. That would be great to see, unfortunately it would mean Jabrill leaving.

I wonder how close this mock draft had JD to the first round.

that would not start on OSU's team according to their fanbase.

I do love it when articles like this come out showing Peppers as a top 10 pick as it just continues to show how delusional both OSU and MSU fanbases are.  How stupid can these fans be?

You know, before I even clicked on the link, I had simply assumed that this would involve the Browns taking a QB first, and I was not disappointed and indeed I was even pleasantly surprised at the #1 projection for that very thing here. Time for that dude who has the jersey with the name of every Browns QB in the last 25 years to make some more placards.
