I hope they just put him out there at corner and let him become the kind of CB that just locks down one half of the field (like Charles).
I saw where Mattison already commented that this type of player will allow him to apply defensive pressure as he would like to do.
I'm looking forward to seeing this class mature on the field.
Go Blue!

it is so hard to keep my cool when watching the television screen on a 3rd and 5 or so... and like you guys said.. the DB's are playing 10 yards off the WR. I just want to yell "GROW A PAIR!" to the play calling. But before I can finish.. a WR has already got the first down on an easy 5 yard slant.

they dont have a pass rush and mattison knows he cant count on CBs to cover for 4 seconds on key downs.  someone mentioned a comment from mattison re he can now employ schemes and games with peppers in play he otherwise would not.  if they cannot generate 4man rush, and nothing or no one on roster should lead anyone to beleive otherwise (short of charlton developing by next year or someone else making insane jump in production)  then mattison either needs to play soft and underneath on key downs or get aggressive and pressure with 5-6 or more....either way, its only matter of time until it bites you.  thats why hes been so hesistant to bring it.  peppers at least gives mattison an athlete that should be able to match up with anyone on field (and versatility is massive)  and allow him to do more.  but they dont have a 4 man rush and probably will not again next year given the pass rushing / 1on1 talent at the top half of depth chart so temper expectations bc mattison is still limited in calls.  peppers is a big piece and helps a ton and ive thought all along hes nfl draft lock barring injury, but they can only do so much with a weak DL  (now hopefully the true and redshirts we havent seen much past few yrs step up and prove me wrong but as of now clark/beyer/ojemudia/etc have not and will not consistently win 1on1 matchups and that effects the entire D scheme and attitude)

feeling, bu tI have this reoccuring dream where that happens and THEN he jumps a routine ball thrown in the flat, and takes it to the house.  Weird thing is that the other team is wearing different jerseys.  Some are green and some are red and grey, but each player on the other team does have a shit stain on their arse.

The new season cannot come soon enough, Jabrill, Countess and Dymonte in the defensive backfield has me fired up. JMFR healthy, Frank and Taco crushing qb's. Beefy D-line to keep lb's clean. Another full year in the weightroom for the OL, TE and receivers the height of a basketball team. Lots to like...

since you're mentioning our DB situation and such.. what is the deal with T-Rich? I remember he was a pretty highly recruited player.. and he had that one blip where he said something along the lines of "I better be a starter from day 1" (paraphrasing). Did he end up just busting... or is his mouth getting him in trouble still? Really, I thought he was going to play a big role for us some day.. but I guess he's still pretty young.

could be wrong but i think richardson still 5'9" 170 lbs soaking wet w rocks in pockets - granted an improvement from the 150lbs when arriving in AA but still way undersized.  a DB must be truly gifted and elite in coverage and instinctually at 5'9" 170 lbs due to liability in most situations against taller stronger WRs and not much hope of aggressively attacking in run game.  if mattison has demonstrated anything at um, its that hes wary of playing undersized DBs who can be abused in run game and rightfully so.  the kid could be tremendous athlete - by all recruiting accounts richardson was - but his size just buried him on depth chart

Mmmm Hmmm

The good news is that we had a very desirable recruit. The bad news is that other schools continued to express desire toward that recruit, in both above-board and shadier ways. The best news is that he is signed, and now all that separates Peppers from the winged helmet is the passage of some time. Go Blue!

has character and understands commitment. None of us can imagine the pressure this young man was experiencing to abandon Michigan. Through it all he was steadfast knowing what he wanted, what was best for him and keeping his word.

This is a Michigan Man!

Can't wait to see Mone be the Mike Martin type these coaches have wanted, can't wait to see Peppers be the corner Mattison has wanted, can't wait to see Harris cruising past MSU' s defense even after defensive holding has been called, can't wait to see Bunting continue the standard Funchess has started, can't wait to see Furbush crush OSU making Urbz wonder what could have been, and I can't wait until L Marshall makes all UM fans think, Malik who? (Not a dig at MM, just saying I hope LM is that good).

Go Blue!!! And hail to the new leaders and best!!!
