Ivan Maisel goes too far

Submitted by MrWoodson on

It's one thing for UM fans to mock our defense, because we do it with pain and love and desperate hope for improvement, but Ivan Maisel is now calling out our defense and making a joke of it. This has gone on long enough.

UM Defense -- please make Maisel eat his words this weekend. Don't do it for the fans. Don't do it for the program. Do it for yourselves. You are way better than this.

... if insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, then the Michigan defense may need a competency hearing.

The three winningest programs in the history of college football -- Michigan, Texas and Notre Dame -- are a combined 13-12. The Wolverines are 5-3, thanks to their Brett Favre defense -- neither one knows how to get off the field

Its fair game until someone does something about it.  I don't see this as awful or anything just the truth. Worse things have been said, just ask Charlie Villanueva.

It's an "interesting" topic of discussion because, on one hand, the players are probably harder on themselves than anyone but, on the other, these are 18-19 year-old kids that people are denigrating in some instances. I have tried to temper my critique with the latter in mind but I am probably an offender at times as well. Its always hypocritical though because I could obviously never perform at that level myself.

I see nothing wrong with this at all. Just because we're Michigan doesnt mean that people cant make fun of us. Until the defense steps up then theyre fair game.

I hate it though. I dont like being the laughing stock any more than you do. Go Blue.

Honestly, I was expecting a lot worse.  Our defense is bad.  I'm sure many mgousers have said much worse while yelling at their TV's than "You don't know how to get off the field" and needing "competency".

Wow....i was expecting something that was....was.....i dunno...less true I guess.  TRUST me....way worse stuff was written on this board in the 24 hours after last Saturday's game.

Hell....l if I didn't  post stuff more over the top Sunday morning I"m pretty sure I yelled far, far worse at my TV Saturday night and I know damn well I thought it.

i'm seriously in favor of a punt block formation on every play... i mean, it's what you do when you get really pissed off in football video games, right?

some of you need thicker skin if these comments are considered "too far".

we've already established that Greg Robinson has a learning disability. it's time for him to save his breath, and from the sideline, simply point at the opponent's QB

It really is up to our defense to prove him wrong, but that will be harder now with Floyd gone.  We need a little perspective, these are young college men putting forth a lot of effort.  They will be exciting to watch to next year with the extra experience.

...and if you are an objective U of M fan, you'd instantly know that RR is doing this to himself by repeating the same mistake(s) he did with Shafer. For all that RR knows about Offense, he obviously is deficient about Defense because what we are witnessing is absolute garbage. And sure, we have young guys, but there comes a point where you have to also question how they are developing/coaching these kids. The D looks like they are a hodge podge of drunken frat guys trying to play tackle football.
