IU Snowflakes

Submitted by Generic MGoBlogger on

Just a pathetic effort on all ends... IU wanted to hand it to us in the first half turning the ball over on every possession, but there was no effort made to get guys open. Nobody stepped up with Stauskas being held in check, and the offense was just stagnant.  However, I think this team needed a little wake up call after being on top of the world for the last two weeks. Frustrating but not the end. Pick it up for Nebraska and Iowa on Saturday.

I agree with each of your points. I was just not expecting the conference winning streak to end today, though. They should have been able to extend that a couple more games.
This loss definitely adds pressure to the rest of their conference slate.
This was a game that they should not have lost.

Right on, LG.   We sucked, no doubt about it.  But IU played well defensively, and you cannot count on Stauskas to perform flawlessly every game.   It just won't happen.   You hope that others will fill in the void when your studs get shut down, but it didn't happen today.

GRIII disappeared, again. Stauskas got frustrated and just stood in the corner for much of the 2nd half.  Missed free throws. And we couldn't get a hand up against Yogi behind the arc.

Levert could'nt raise his hands above his friggin hip.  He is a terrible perimeter defender.  Between that and his turnovers, he is one who I'd like to see less minutes while Irvin gets more.  The levert is incredible because he scores meme needs to die. He's a liability in too many areas.

Tough game to watch but that's basketball in the B1G. Gotta regroup and play like the team we all know they are. Hats off to Yogi. Hell of a game on his end.

Sigh, that was a lackluster effort....I was afraid of the home-cooking Indiana will get, but the refs weren't  the deciding factor (the refs weren't great, but still...) .

Oh well, hoping for a better showing against Nebraska the next game.

It may talent-wise, but Irvin was actually noticeable on the court... The only times I noticed GRIII were when he took poor and highly contested jumpers.

That being said, GRIII is obviously the better player and should stay in the rotation, but it is necessary that he regains the form he was in a couple games ago.

Holy shit I know its the cool thing to do on this blog to bash GRIII for not showing up but check the stats.  He's our second leading scorer at over 13 points a game, probably our best one on one perimeter defender, is shotting almost 50% from the floor, and averages over 4 rebounds a game which is also second on the team and more than morgan averages.  I get frustrated too because he hasnt devolped the ability to beat people off the dribble yet because nobody respects him as a three point shooter, but lol at thinking irvin would surpass that overall production because he hit a few threes and you noticed it.

This.  Plus little 3 point production from the good guys.  We were bound to have a few stinkers from behind the 3 point line, but it hurts more when a struggling Tom Crean team does it to you.

Also, make FT's.

EDIT:   Wrong response.  My bad.

Not a hard game to remedy.
Make free throws, limit turnovers, and get the ball out of LeVert's hands, and into Stauskas'. We still control our destiny. Beat Nebraska, Go Blue!

1) Stauskus totally gave up getting his when they didn't come easy. Towards the end, I kept wanting him to shoot on a switch, but he continually deferred. Weak. I would expect small fast gaurds on Stauskus from here on out until he can beat it.

2) GR3 has no killer instinct, which shows on rebound opportunities, Defense, etc. Can only dunk. Turns the ball over when he does try to attack the rim.

3) Walton is a keeper.

4) Bad boxing out, which continues that trend this year.

5) Morgan plays incredibly unselfish BBall, but we needed those FTs down the stretch.

Overall, bad effort game. I liked the late switch to the 1-3-1 zone, but it hurts to lose to a team basically composed of one player

You are exactly right about Nik.  He gave in and allowed the defense to take him out of the game.  This is where many missed what Hardaway did last season...he fought like hell to get his touches and demanded the defense continue to react to him which opened up other shots.

Let's just get these out of the way so we don't have to see them for 300 posts:

- This team is so overrated. They shouldn't even be in the top 25.

- I hope GR3 goes to the NBA this year.  He's a joke.

- Walton will never be Burke.

- This is the worst free throw shooting team in the history of the world.

- Michigan is still miles behind Michigan State.

Seriously, think about your angry and irrational posts before tossing them out there for the world to see.
