IU fires Kevin Wilson
IU fires Kevin Wilson. Stunning. Reports coming in that it may have to do with off-the-field stuff, because he signed a six-year extension less than a year ago.
EDIT: Looks like Kevin Wilson is competent Tim Beckman:
Former Indiana player told ESPN on Thursday that he & at least 5 other IU players interviewed about Wilson's treatment of players

What the shit? Unless he was caught with a hooker or something I don't understand this at all.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:23 PM ^
even if he was caught with a hooker...no offense, Indiana, but he was really tearing it up for you.

How dead was this hooker?

Low key internet comment of the day.
1. CJK5H
2. Craig James Son was the sparkplug that got Mike Leach canned for treatment of players.
3. In a Kevin Wilson Fired for mistreatment of players thread.

Prolly shouldn't use "tearing it up" and hooker in the same paragraph.

I think she meant "tearing it up" as in "crying or otherwise commiserating". Used in a sentence: "Tears of a Clown has a chorus about a clown tearing it up."
Yep, that's what she probably meant!

We're not offended one bit.
Wait. I mean they're not offended one bit.

did not land the Oregon HC job
He's coming to Bloomington
December 1st, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
But we will he walk there?? Because Indiana is not paying for the plane ticket.
December 1st, 2016 at 4:03 PM ^
At least Brady slimmed down and they won't have to purchase two seats.
December 1st, 2016 at 5:37 PM ^
really, really old. And unnecessary.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:15 PM ^
Wow. Something ugly must have happened. Can't imagine this is performance-related.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:31 PM ^
Let's just say IF he comes out clean on this, nothing dreadfully inappropriate or unlawfaul, but while the dust is settling the other HC jobs get filled - I'd like to see what he could add to Michigan's offense that Jedd Fisch isn't adding? For that one year until he takes another HC job...

twitter / reddit chatter is Player mistreatment ala Tim Beckman as well as clashes with administration.
Also has been floated that he had an off the field Sarkesian problem...

players father quoted as saying IU rushed his son through concussion protocol and worsened symptoms per Chantel Jennings and Mark Schlabach.
Sounds like overzelous, overbearing style putting kids in danger. Interesting the school of Bob Knight is dealing with this.

It sounds like IU knew that he had problems like this before they hired him, but he was an up and coming assistant and they wanted to win so they hired him anyway.

They should just have a drink and patch things up.

It was an ugly hooker and he was unable to get it up.

A JAILED ELK S.O.S. is an anagram of ALL JOKES ASIDE.
And look at your (Sufjan Stevens-esque) avatar. Is this a cry for help? Should we be doing a fundraiser for bail at the local Cervidae prison?

Know who you are, Indiana. This reminds me of Minnesota firing Glen Mason.
The only thing that would make this make sense would be some sort of off-the-field issue.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:22 PM ^
They're headed to their second bowl in a row and have dominated the Old Oaken Bucket series lately. This must be for something off the field.

True. Maybe they managed to sit on this story (whatever it is) until the end of the season?
December 1st, 2016 at 3:35 PM ^
type scandal could make sense with the timing. But agree that it's very coincidental. Had to have been sitting on something for at least a little bit of time until the end of the season.

Going to a bowl game and dominating the Old Oaken Bucket series is a pretty low standard.

This is Indiana we're talking about.

When you are Indiana football, your job is to kill time until basketball season.
You are going to lose half your games no matter what.
You can lose those 6 games by 10 points and put everybody to sleep . . . or you can go complete CHAOS and lose them in triple ovetime to top 5 teams.
Which would you rather have?
They were finally getting a cool identity (well as cool as you can get for a team that loses half its games) and now they had to go and ruin it.
They will deserve the Purdue outcome they get.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:36 PM ^
That would have to be full Bobby Petrino. This is a good thing for this conference. His team's were a major pain in the ass.
December 1st, 2016 at 3:47 PM ^
I would argue its a bad thing...
Yeah, the team was somehwat scary, but them being a higher quality team increases our perception; and honestly, if you can't beat Indiana you don't deserve whatever that loss might have cost you.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:55 PM ^
it cost one team the chance to go 4-8 this year.
