According to the release, Davis was struck by the car Holt was driving just after exiting the vehicle.

Holt had a blood alcohol level of 0.025, according to the release. He was cited for illegal consumption and operating a vehicle with a BAC above 0.02.

Operating a vehicle with a BAC above 0.02?  That's a pretty low threshold.

And of course they are clearly already blaming it on alcohol. Let's be honest with ourselves here - this kid probably has the tolerance of half the readers here. E.G. He probably drinks 2-3 days a week, him blowing a .021 has nothing to do with anything other than the law looking for a scapegoat because it's just not possible for people to drive like idiots without alcohol right? Yeah, I thought so.

Amen to this.

The odds of getting struck down in youth are much higher than I'd care to think; young people feel they are so indestructible that they aren't as careful with their lives. The older I get the scarier it sounds to know your number could be up at any time. A 15 year old girl was struck by a car here in Swartz Creek a couple weeks ago and it appeared the worse was expected; her boots were in the street, her body like 20 yards away. Significant damage to the vehicle. She was in critical condition but was recently moved out of that unit and is currently doing rehab. Hopefully Devin makes a complete recovery no matter how long it takes.
