Here's to surviving another long week. Weekend plans?
Then go to bdubs and start drinking.
coming from a ____ with a picture of a gun as his avatar...
I just clenched my anus after reading your avatar asking me to prepare it. Now I pondering if the way this has altered 2 seconds of my life now changes everything and my entire future. What blessing or woe has your avatar wrought upon me?
Taking advantage of spring forward Saturday night with the extra hour of drinking at the bar. Hopefully celebrating a 15-3 conference record!
Hate to burst your bubble but we don't gain an hour this weekend we lose one. I mix them up all the time also.
Dangit, I always confuse them. Thanks for the heads up. It would have been really confusing if I noticed this while I was intoxicated Saturday night.
We don't need no stinkin' Daylight Saving Time, we have waaay too much daylight here as it is....
That's good. It gets us one hour closer to Selection Sunday.
This is my favorite time of the year. I gladly lose that silly one hour in exchange for an extra hour of daylight every single day for the next 8 months. To me this is officially the end of Winter and beginning of Spring. SPRING AHEAD!!!!
Half day of work, lunch at Tilted Kilt, Golf show in Novi, then Michigan Hockey in AA!!! BANG AWAY!!!!!
Nice, I do like Tilted Kilt. The ladies there have very nice boo...err, drink specials. Yes, they have very nice drink specials.
I think you were looking for the word "hands".
Dammit... I'm totally jelly of you. I get to work all day then go visit my mom who's making me minestrone soup. At least I get to spend some time with my 5 year old nephew which is decent hangin since he's a funny little dude. Regardless, your Friday > mine.
IMAX 300 sequel. So you will be more tempted to throw your raisinetts at the Sparties that will undoubtly be there.
This man high-fiving a bobcat!?
We have much to bang about and rejoice. Beat Indiana and Crean!
Oh yeah man... Tanned Tommy must go down... Between his fake bake, butt part haircut and current winning streak against us, Tanned Tommy must lose.
Drinking at City Walk, hitting Universal Studios, and then pool.
Just went to universal yesterday. Golf today
Haven't noticed anyone from Orlando on the boards before. Are you guys from here or vacationing?
Me, my wife and both of my little kids have the flu. Sick as hell , so likely not going to be a fun weekend! I take comfort in being outright big ten champs in bball though.
My 18 mo. old, wife, and I were all sick. Not fun. But, indeed - take solace we are outright champs and you're not at work.
And a few cocktails.... It's been a looooooooooong week.
Happy Friday, errybody.
making Crean cry. I hear they are on the way.
Still in the process of trying to buy a new car. I can't believe how tough it is to order a car and get it at a reasonable price. Hopefully I'll have this all wrapped up by Monday.
That's the hardest way to get a "good price". Dealers know you're more likely to pay more for a car that you configure yourself, so the incentive for them to negotiate on price is greatly minimized.
The manufacturers and dealers are motivated to move the metal on the lot. If you can find something that's close to what you're looking for, negotiate the price you're willing to pay for it.
I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately there arn't any in the region that the dealer could find and production orders cease for that particular car in 3 weeks.
For the most part, they think they "have me over a barrel" and if they can order it, then I'm going to have to pay a premium. Today I'm going to go to a couple local dealerships and see what they can come up with. Then at that point, make the best financial decision.
See, now I'm just wondering what car you're looking for with orders ending in 3 weeks that means it's something with an all-new 2015 model coming out this fall (summer tooling changeover). I would guess that you want an F-150, but those are all over the place and easy to get. I'm going with you want to get a Mustang with the solid axle before those go away.
You nailed it. Originally I was looking at the 2014 mustang gt500 and production on those ended last November. I found 1 that had everything I wanted but the Recaro racing seats were too uncomfortable for me. Plus that car really isn't a daily driver. Especially in the colder months.
The car I want to order is a 2014 mustang gt california special, fully loaded. I've been going back and forth with a couple dealerships about trade in value on my car along with invoice pricing to come up with a reasonable deal. A win win scenerio for everyone.
If you get one with an automatic, it's got parts that come out of my plant and that I helped design.
My boss has a 2004 Mustang GT, he claims his biggest regret in life was selling his 69 mustang back when... best of luck with it!
Thank you. This will be my 4th mustang (all I've ever owned). I currently have a 2003 mustang gt. Its been a great car. The car I want is an automatic and it's pretty cool that I get to talk to someone who had a hand in designing and manufacturing it. I bet your boss will have the opportunity to own a '69 again. Thanks again!
I don't think he'll ever get rid of the 2004. Most of the development work on the 6R80 is driven (ha!) by the F-150 because of volumes, etc. and it was designed and in production well before my time here, but I have had a small hand in some of its upgrades/development
TODAY I am turning in my current lease, then tomorrow I am flying out to LA to pick up my new lease and drive it home (a pleasant 300-mile drive thru the desert, nice way to break in a new car). Thanks to the internet, you CAN get a good deal on a special order. If the dealer is too far away to drive, you can have them ship it to you for reasonable cost.
I wanted a black car with a manual transmission, they traded for one (they were thrilled to get rid of the beige one I drove. Good luck selling beige to someone who wants 3 pedals). Dealers trade cars all the time, they should be able to find you what you want.
A good option is to call a second dealer, let them know that you're having trouble getting the car you want, see what they'll do for you. Another option that helps with haggling is Costco - they have deals set up for member prices at lots of dealerships. Both of these options give you leverage over the dealer that you're dealing with. As soon as they know that you can happily get your car elsewhere for a better price, they'll haggle.
Every car I have ever owned (going back 30 years) has had a stick- it always feels wierd to me (or my left foot, anyway) to drive an automatic. But in my next car, all of my excuses for driving a stick no longer hold true- the 8-speed(!) paddle-controlled automatic accellerates faster and gets better gas mileage than the manual.
Also wierd is test-driving a Tesla- no transmission! With the lack of engine noise, it feels like it accelerates extremely quickly, but in actual 0-60 times (for a reasonable version of the car) it was no quicker than my last car- 5.5 sec.
And real world mileage. I prefer a manual so I drive one. I also get better than epa mileage regularly, while that's much harder to do in automatics because of how the EPA tests.
Also, can I ask which car you're looking at? Most likely my company has parts in it, as we do in most 8 speed autos, but depending on the model I may have worked on localizing the parts to NA myself!
Since I keep asking, I'm currently in a VW CC 2.0T 6M and my next car is most likely going to be a GTI, but the Focus ST will get a fair shot too.
BMW 435i. Replacing a 535i 6-Speed. The 5's have become too large, ponderous and stodgy over the years.
Here's to being able to step outside this weekend without it being so cold!
I've been struggling with a cold for the last few days, a struggle which included a moment on Tuesday where I very nearly passed out in a meeting, by all accounts, so I had some juice and went home after that. Wednesday and yesterday were pretty bad too, but today is the first time since late Monday where I have felt semi-normal, which is a good sign.
This weekend will is one where my wife works, so it will be a lot of hanging out with the kids, watching the snow slowly begin to melt and, of course, basketball. My hope is that we avenge the game in Assembly Hall earlier in the year and send Crean & Co. a lovely flower basket as they await their NIT fate.
On Sunday, I will probably do my taxes since I have been putting that off for forever basically, and as I normally owe a little, I put it off with good reason. Yeah, I could change my deductions, but I get bonuses that make up for the inconvenience of owing, so it sort of works out. In any case, while I am doing that, I'll probably start working on whole-season analysis of Michigan hoops too.
One other thing - in honor of a temporary return to 40-degree weather, I am also planning to grill this weekend....quite a bit actually.
Sounds like a nice plan for the weekend. I am surprised you don't have a trip to Home Depot pencilled in.
