the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection
It's about the way you win.
I didn't mind losing. I minded losing to a team who carried itself this way while no one cared.
Luckily, Bielema plays dirty as well and his guys are are bigger. For once I'll give them a bye on cheap shots next week.
M got flat out beat today. Nobody here is denying that.
But there is something to be said about the level of cheapness that Sparty resorted to today. A punch is never acceptable. Never. The way Denard was hit late is also unacceptable. The taunting...hate the rule or not, it's in there for a reason, and that's to maintain the INTEGRITY of the sport. MSU did the opposite. They won, they deserved it, but holy hell were they dirty about it. Why should I get over that? I'm over the loss already...but until Gholston gets suspended I'm not over the cheap shot bullcrap that they pulled.
I'm not a lunatic. Seriously, i'm not.
Ok, maybe just a little bit.
With something along the lines of, 'you spotted us 8 personal fouls and we didn't deserve to win...' and I get back, 'typical whining'
I hope east Lansing burns tonight
I have a Fandom Endurance III merit badge
Let's not give everyone else material for their own blissful schadenfreude. Let's lose gracefully and move on. Time to learn from this, and get ready for the rest of the season. We all know what went down, there's no need to rehash it over and over again.
Thanks for posting this. Sums up my feelings well. While the loss sucks, I could not be happier to be a Michigan fan.
Your friendly neighborhood contrarian.

THIS IS MICHIGAN
He's not, so don't hold your breath.
doesn't care, they won the game. If you want it to stop, then beat them. Time to suck it up, and move on. The story of this game is Michigan's offensive line. They couldn't handle the MSU pressure.
remember they will have a rookie qb coming to the big house next year and we still control our own destiny the rest of the way if MSU loses to Wisconsin, and they have to go to Nebraska, and Grumpy I'm not going to suck up the fact that they punched our player.
903 wins most in college football
the division so lets put that fantasy to bed.
Our Oline and Dline's will get pushed around these last 5 games just like the last 3 years. We are weak up front and that won't change for a couple recruiting classes. We can hang in there with these teams maybe steal a couple but by no means should we be favored over Nebraska or OSU, probably even with Illinois and Iowa.
based on one game. Have you even seen OSU this year? What about their performance so far this season makes them a better team than UM. As far as Illinois you realize UM beat them last year, without a defense. The defense is still sigficantly better than last year, despite having problems against the run today. I think Nebraska will be a tough game, but I like UM's chances against Illinois, Iowa and OSU. The division is still not out of the question, none of the teams in this division are great teams.
Cousin's final stat line was 13-24 for 120 yards of passing. With the exception of a few throws, all of his passes were like 5-7 yards on guys wide open over the middle. It's not exactly a dynamic QB that they're losing, more or less just a Game Manager type of guy. So having a Rookie QB will be offset by the fact that the brunt of their offense (Baker for the most part, plus some Bell and Capers) are all coming back next year. As for the divison title? Not a chance in hell with the way our Lines played today
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
play better than they did today right? The o-line is still a good unit, Borges did them no favors with his playcalling today against the blitz and the trio of Martin, Van Bergen and Roh can play better than what we saw today.
What about this division makes it out of the question. Every team in this division has issues and flaws, it is still wide open at this point.
I know they can play better but WILL they play better? I know our repetitive playcalling hurt our O-LIne, but that still doesn't explain passing situations where 3 rushers were dominating our line. I also realize MSU has a great Front 7, but so does Neb, and so does OSU. This next week is important as well as the Purdue and Iowa games. We need to blow Purdue out badly, and beat Iowa to quell any doubts about our Lines
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
3 personal fouls: 2 late hits, 1 unsportsmanlike.
1 personal foul: unsportsmanlike on Gholston for the punch to Lewan
2 roughing the passer
1 unsportsmanlike, taunting by Isiah Lewis on the interception return - missed by the officials. I don't remember any other specific taunting.
The multiple roughing the passer calls and Gholston's late hit/facemask twist on Denard confirmed what I expected of the band of thugs - that they would target Denard to hurt him.
cant figure out how to embed it
Yes, they played dirty. But they racked up 120 yards in penalties and we still couldn't beat them. All you're doing by complaining about how dirty they are is making it easy for the rest of the internet to make fun of our team and our fanbase.
How about we lick our wounds and look forward to having a week off to regroup and let the bumps and bruises heal up. Put the loss behind us and work towards staying in the Big Ten title game hunt. The season isn't over, let's not let this loss ruin our season.
Dantonio's next heart attack can't get here soon enough. I'll be high giving folks the way he was high fiving his dirty players after Denard left the game injured.
No matter how classless Dantonio and his players are, don't wish harm on them. That lowers you to their level.
Visiting my parents this weekend--except for me the family's all OSU and Cincinnati fans. After the game my sister comes over and my mother is telling her what a shameful display she'd seen watching football today, one team seemed intent on injuring the other team's star player and describes in detail #44's attempted pile-driver late hit on Denard. My sister, who I knew had a neighbor playing at MSU but I'd never thought to ask his name, says "oh, that's awful. How did Marcus do?"
Mom looks at me. "Did you hear Marcus...um, what's his last name again? Did you hear Marcus Rush's name at all during the game?"
How can we contact the Big Ten to make sure they review those dangerous personal fouls?
His email address is carollo (at) bigten (dot) org
HOWEVER: If you are going to email him, be sure you are polite and not accusative. You are representing Michigan fans, so be sure to do so in a good and polite way. I would recommend waiting at least until tomorrow to write the email to them.
That said, if you want to highlight the plays by Gholston:

Michigan should rise above all that shit. So MSU plays dirty. Is this news to people? So when has this NOT been the case? Hoke will have nothing but praise for the Spartans in the presser I'm sure.
MSU handed Michigan 124 yards in penalites on a silver platter and also lost the turnover battle to Michigan.
The fact speak for themselves. MSU outgained Michigan and was averging a pathetic 30% on 3rd down coming in to the game. Today's game? MSU was 50% percent on 3rd down. Michigan was around 30%.
Michigan didn't block well and didn't play well defensively either.
Now the Michigan has 2 weeks to wallow in it until Purdue at home.
