item: Kaleb Ringer issues

Submitted by Brian on

I got a tip that Kaleb Ringer had gotten the boot from his high school team for disciplinary reasons, and this appears to be true. He's had a recurring issue that was finally too much and he's gotten axed. I don't know if this will change his status as a Michigan commit, but if he decommits at some point in the near future that would be why.

[UPDATE:BISB: Sam Webb just tweeted that Kaleb was not booted. Just sitting with a sprained knee. The plot thickens.]

but what the hell do I know?  The coaches seemed to come screaming out of player evaluations, hair alight, chasing anything resembling a LB early in the recruiting cycle.  Losing the kid we were all so excited about and is now at Okl but shall not be named, then going down another with Ringer, I wouldn't be surprised if they still pursued a LB.

1.  Awesome name or awesomest name ever?

2. Kid is way underrated based on his offers.  He lists a top group or Michigan, Florida State, Nebraska, Oregon, and the hometown team Utah.  If you knew nothing else about him, that should be a four star lock, right?

1) I wouldn't even know how to pronouce that name.  Maybe someone familiar with Samoan pronunciations can help us.

2) He also has offers from Cal, Oregon St., Wash, and Arizona.  He might be underrated coming from Utah, but he does have a pretty good offer list.

He also has amazing hair like Troy Polamalu.

Sunk in a ditch!

I'm not overly concerned though...I hope Hoke does the right thing. Whatever that may be.

Hope the kid can resolve his issue(s). If not Hoke knows what to do. Hopefully another cb/wr could be gain. I like the current class of lbers in the class now and don't see a need for someone to replace the kid if,it comes to that.

Are you trying to tell us something in your failure to capitalize the "i" in "item"? As in, this is a minor, lower-case, understated issue? Not reading into it or anything, though. Just wondering.

True story here, I was going to ask, where did you hear this? link? then i realized...it was Brian! That's really too bad as I expected him to be a beast, hopefully he will figure it out and be one!

Dantonio is not Kaleb Ringer's high school football coach.

I hope he can get his life straightened out.  Any chance that these issues are tackling players too hard, and too fast?

offer if he got booted off his H.S. team - especially for disciplinary reasons.  With the 3 high quality guys in this class left at LB, I'd think we would use the scholly for another position for a top player (another OL, D-back, WR, or even QB if a good one came up).

The reality has now arrived that by signing day, not all of the class we've got commits from so far will be there to sign.  This really isn't too surprising.  Trying to be optimistic about this development, I'm hoping we can find a really good player to replace him in the class.

If it really was for disciplinary reasons, better we find out now than after signing day.  We've got a ton of good LBs already committed and with this staff I have no doubt they could find another talented recruit to fill the spot.

If this is true, he is doing a good job of hiding it. I know he is going to his game tonight at Wayne. I wonder if he will be on the sidelines or in the stands. I might go and check it out for myself.

I hope they do go after another LB, I really like the idea of having some depth at that position going forward.  Part of the biggest problem we have had with the D recently is directly related to depth

I hope it isn't true about Ringer but either way depth at LB is not a big concern going forward.

Demens and Hawthorne will be seniors next season

Cam Gordon will be a junior.

Mike Jones is a bit of an unknown but will be a junior

M will return 3 soph's who earned decent to significant playing time this season;

Jake Ryan

Desmond Morgan

Brennan Beyer.

Antonio Poole looks to be a redshirt freshman next season

Jordan Paskorz is listed as an LB but I have yet to see him

M will have 3 incoming freshman LB's

Royce Jenkins-Stone

James Ross

Joe Bolden

Linebackers in terms of depth and quality seem pretty solid to me
