It has been rumored that he plays sports with such a ferocious intensity that others are inclined to levy a fee against him, but in order to do that they must first locate him.  What is a large sum of money to a player like him—it is pertinent that someone remind him.

He seems solid to Michigan.  But this is similar to when people said we could offer the DT from Cass Tech late and maybe change him.  Just because you were a childhood favorite doesn't mean it doesn't piss these kids off when you offer late.  I think even if Michigan offered that DT he'd stay committed to Illinois, just like I think McCray will stick with Michigan (though said DT has said he is still taking visits, which is odd).  Thankfully Urban pissed off a really good player and Michigan was able to land him.  Thanks Urbs!

But it's know far from a sure thing.  In fact, it's less likely that a recruit flips, IMO, than stay with the team they are currently committed to.

I also want to point out that I think Michigan made the right move as far as offers to DTs.  They are in on some really good ones, I was just using it as an example.

i agree with you for the most part.  However, teams like Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC have a special bond with kids and young players of their fan base.  More so than other fanbases.  I think schools like these have a much easier time swooping in late on guys that were fans of theirs growing up.

I think he wil stay blue but this will make it a long time to signing day.

Norfleet is a little different because he got a late offer not just from Michigan, but from a Big Ten school... he jumped at the chance to play a higher level of football.

Plus, I have to think the coaches had a pretty straight conversation with McCray when he commited about what would happen when Meyer got down on his knees and started begging him to come back to ohio... not entirely unexpected.

I'm starting to panic, as this is the second tangeant in this thread that went completely over my head.  I can actually start to track myself turning from one of the hip youngsters to someone who uses the word youngsters in a sentence.

Dennis Norfleet is very different because Michigan didn't very publicly recruit four or five 5'9" scat backs before settling on Norfleet.  Norfleet was a luxury that Michigan could afford once offers at other positions fell through.

Mike McCray has fairly obviously been relegated to Meyer's fourth or fifth choice at linebacker, and he certainly deserved better.

There are still x months to signing day. Even if he is dark blue he may become other colors.

Relax. Look at Dawson. I am sure coaching staff will be happy to keep showing McCray that he made the right decision to commit to Michigan.

He sent out two consecutive tweets this morning: "I'm not going anywhere" and "#GOBLUE". This probably has a lot to do with the Anzalone situation and he doesn't want to be anyone's backup plan, so I'm very happy that we have him.

Maybe one of the good thingS that Sam Webb was hinting at for the month of June will be McCray telling Meyer to stick his offer up his Circle of Trust.

This is what it comes down to.  Early offer and a few developed friendships and a grown liking of the Michigan program and fanbase to a childhood best friend and pressure from a relentless stalking coach of Urban Meyer.

This scares me a little but not too much.  I think Cam Burrows will work him pretty hard.

Dear Mike:

We've searched far and wide for linebackers that we like better than you, offering a dozen of them, despite the fact that you're from Ohio, the son of a former Buckeye, and a lifelong OSU fan.  We thought we had one, but he and his dad got all pissy when he let him loose with a local pedophile during his visit.  Since we're not sure that we can get him back - or anyone else better than you - we figured that you're an acceptable last resort.

Go Bucks,

Urban

I'm not particularly concerned about McCray, but I will say that between the 2012 class, the other guys we've offered for 2013, and the guys from Cass Tech (along with the rest of the 2014 class), I don't think the loss of McCray would be too damaging if it were to happen.  There's enough depth and there are enough prospects to fill the void.

A valid point, but what about the emotional effect that losing a guy to Ohio that was committed to us for several months and who we had offered nearly 6 months earlier? It's upsetting, haha. Also, I thought you weren't too bullish on the 2014 Cass LB's?

Twitter has several responses from McCray, and they are all positive for Michigan. Shane Morris twitpic'd a conversation he had with McCray, and while I won't post it (because, well, that's creepy), I wouldn't worry.

I love the way he put that:

"Team134 ain't ever goin split up"

I believe it, more than probably any class we've recruited.  This group is tight, talented, and ready to fight along side each other.  Wow, I'm excited to see this class grow through their 4/5 seasons in AA.
