...talks about how UConn hasn't been in contact and how they're out. (HT: UMHoops)
Is it Clinton-Dix that Sam won't reveal ?
I thought Ha'Sean's visit with Dee for the UConn game was an official. It was an official for Dee, right? Was it not an official for Ha'Sean? He was sitting next to Dee in the first or second row! I have to question/protest anybody's suggesting that Michigan or Ha'Sean were doing anything wrong with respect to that visit. Whether Ha'Sean was "official," or not.
How could nobody have guessed Arnett yet?
To me this seems the obvious choice. Sam said the season has been eye opening for this recruit and what could be more eye opening than how well the passing attack has been clicking this year (other than Denard of course)?
I agree I think its Arnett, that's shocking because he previously had eliminated us! Depriest would be my second guess.
Go Blue!
Took my kids to Lamarr Woodley's camp this summer and DeAnthony was there. Must have spent 30 minutes talking with and I wished him well in college even though he had eliminated us. He told me he was talking with the coaches. He also mentioned his friendship with Devin and how good Denard was looking.
He asked me where I thought the program was headed and thought I was crazy when I told him Michigan would be bowl eligible this year, contending for Big 10 titles in the next year or two and be a NC contender by 2012. He took a picture with my kids and was overall a great kid, but still had some academic work to do.
I've been wondering about him. I could understand him being down on us before the year because our receivers didn't produce that much the last two years, but now we're starting to see them make a lot of big plays - and they'll continue to do so, since Denard's presence practically guarantees single coverage.
If Sam did say it was a five-star player, that would rule out Arnett.
That would rule out Drew and Williams as well seeing that Scout has them just outside their top100. Unless he is referring to Rivals' ratings which has both of them inside their top 20.

If you listen to the podcast you'll notice it was the caller who mentions a five-star coming in soon. To which Sam names someone... then he says the season is opening eyes and someone who would surprise us might come in for a visit (I'm paraphrasing). So I don't know where this the "surprise" guy is a five-star stuff is coming from... he never said it was a five-star. He just threw it in as an aside in a the middle of answering the guys question about a five-star visiting in the near future. It seemed like a separate thought to me.
Billy Sims doesn't have any eligibilty left.
Frankly, I don't think that revealing Clinton-Dix is part of Sam Webb's job description.
is who came to mind for me..and I wouldn't mind that at all!!! (or black mamba/ 1 of the Florida Safeties)
The key is that Sam said the prospect was going to give Michigan "another" look. That leads me to think Haha or more likely Lawrence Thomas.
I know from experience dude. If you know what I mean.
It would be a huge slap in the face for all those who think we have been losing the in-state recruiting battle and we could use some LB help..
Please, please be Thomas!!
Hail
Doran Grant?
Tim Jernigan?
I think there is a chance that it might be Doran Grant. I always thought that it was down to OSU and MSU, with us being on the outside looking in. Hopefully we can get him on campus.
Greetings from Bolivia.

My guess: Lawrence Thomas. It would be shocking but not necessarily all that surprising.
Here you have the top prospect in the state who is seeing all the attention the program has been getting and might be starting to realize for the first time that he has one of the nation's top programs right in his back yard.
If you play well at Michigan you'll be a star. If you play well at MSU, you'll be lucky if anyone outside the Big Ten knows your name
That's the power of the block M.
Every time an MGoBoard poster complains about a thread topic, God kills a baby panda.
Beaver mentioned a long while ago that this cat might consider us if the ball bounced the right way. Well its bouncing baby.
would beg to differ. That being said, Jones has an even bigger profile at M were he have had come here.
I promise you nobody knows who Greg jones is down here in SEC country, unless they're state fans obviously. On the other hand, everybody knows who denard is.

Exactly.

I really don't think Greg Jones carries much weight nationally, even if he winds up being an first rounder. It might sound like stupid drivel at times but......MSU football just does not reach very far outside of the Midwest, or Michigan even.

( state this saying samwebb is my boy but this is all to generate recruiting buzz for the premium service)
This top recruit is going to visit, it is going to be a shock to everyone when you find out who it is......he is going to visit for ... game..... game....
Game comes and goes, no visit, doesn't happen...then comes the well..... coach got a hold of it and put a stop to it...... then they say it was a msu recruit that really wanted michigan but someone interfered and won't let them do it.....
yes we know fred smith was kidnapped so he couldn't visit michigan as was charles burrell, will gholston wasn't allowed to visit as was others. Sorry I am no longer on this bandwagon of msu can stop a hs kid from visiting michigan...... BS.
BTW, everyone is free to call me out if I am wrong! Don't get be wrong, I like samwebb and the crew, but this is about keeping people hanging on....and it could be recruits doing it, but I do not buy it at all....NEXT
danthony arnett? maybe... would sure shock the hell out of me
Maybe Posado has gotten in his ear.

Clowney would be shocking. But I think shocking was probably overstating it. Surprising, and probably previously commited, is more like it me thinks.
added Ohio St to his list of visits today. Perhaps adding Michigan is an extension of his Big 10 interest.
safety or linebacker. Clinton-Dix or Thomas would be the shizzle.
Hoke bitches...Hoke.
So i might as well join in! De'Anthony Thomas? Braxton Miller? Teddy Bridgewater? Mike Bellamy? George Farmer? Christian Westerman? Steve Miller? Curtis Grant? Sheroid Evans?
But seriously. Everyone's taking shocking to mean he's super blue chip, five star. I'm not saying that's the case, but let's all be prepared if this to be someone like a mediocre Buckeye commit

Well, expectations should be high when the person delivering the news says "it's a top recruit"
Sam did say it was 5 star!

Maybe I just missed this, but I didn't hear "top prospect" or "five star" in the podcast. Did he mention it at another time? (Not trying to be a douche here)

Not HaHa...Thats just the vibe i get from him.
Haha isn't a surprise visit (he already visited). Plus, on the eve of Haha and Dee Hart's Bama weekend I highly doubt he would be talking about a visit back to AA.
Also, Webb talked about Drew earlier in the roundup. So it won't be him.
My guess is it's Karlos Williams. Makes sense because the way Webb described it, it sounded like the 5-star was committed somewhere else (similar to HaHa, he wanted to keep the rumors quiet). DePriest would be unreal. UNREAL. But Karlos would be nice too.
Lawrence Thomas, Trey DePriest, Doran Grant, DeAnthony Arnett, Tim Jernigan, Haha, and Dee Hart all decide to commit.
Add in Allen Gant, Chris Wormley, Dan O'Brien, James Ross, Royce Jenkins-Stone, Terry Richardson in 2012...
A man can dream...
Caller: There's rumors of a 5-star visiting in the next couple of weeks. Do you have any idea who that might be? Is it Jernigan -- somebody like that? Sammy Watkins returning?
Webb: Five star visiting in the next couple of weeks... You know, at this point, I think Sammy Watkins will be on campus for the Iowa game. Tentatively, he and Dallas Crawford are slated to come up on a visit, and Sammy Watkins is obviously a 5-star guy. But you know what -- how 'bout this. It is -- Michigan's start to the season has been head-turning, so just remember now what I'm saying. You'll look up in a week or two, and I think there is a very good chance that you'll look up and be shocked by at least one guy that you see at a game. Maybe two, but certainly one. Come back on the Recruiting Roundup at that time and say 'eh', this is who I was talking about. Not Sammy Watkins, who I expect to be on campus, at least tentatively that's the plan right now -- things can, and always do, change. But at this point, that's the plan. But no, another prospect. Based on the way that Michigan has started off the season, his interest has been piqued, and is planning a visit. And now, certainly is -- he's wanted to keep that out of the news, so I'm going to respect that for the time being. And obviously if and when he shows up on campus the cat will be out of the bag, but he is certainly saying that he wants to -- or he is certainly saying that he is giving Michigan another look, and we'll certainly report that when he gives us the word that we can, but at this point, he hasn't given us the word that we can yet. Hey, maybe he doesn't show up. But at this point, it certainly seems to be something that he is seriously contemplating. So, just a little heads-up for a future Recruiting Roundup, alright?
I bet he'd know.
This has nothing to do with Michigan football.
That being said, I don't think it's him. It's been rumored that he'd be visiting for some time now

Just because seemingly everyone is chiming in, and it's basically a free for all....I'm gonna say, "I hope to AMH_G that it's Lawrence Thomas."
Ohhhhhhh what a tangy, aromatic, dripping FU that would be.
Holy S***, I just thought of a way it could get better................if he came to the UM v MSU game, stood on our sidelines and announced that, "yeah.....I've had a change of heart" as he rips off his State hat (the one with the 187th edition of the MSU logo) and puts on one of his new teammate's winged helmet.
It's not gonna happen, but in the twisted Spartan-loathing world that is my mind, it's going down just like that.

Could it be Justice Hayes, with ND slumping and Michigan's stock rising?
Blank.....Blank......You're not looking at the big picture here.
