Is it Clinton-Dix that Sam won't reveal ?

Just listened to the podcast on WTKA recruiting roundup.... and Sam Webb said to remember what he saying that there is a good chance there will be a surprise top recruit next few weeks showing up to the game, that would "shock" everyone. He went on to say that he is not allowed to disclose who it is, at the behest of the recruit himself. Sam said it is not Sammy Watkins.

And if I recall, that Clinton-Dix accompanied Hart on his last trip to Ann Arbor, that Dix would not give permission to beat writer (I forgot who it was but I think it was Sam again) something along the lines of  ''you better not report i'm here".

Putting two and two together, my money would be on Clinton-Dix who is this recruit Sam is not allowed to reveal.

Guesses

DeAnthony Thomas, Karlos Williams or Charles Jackson seem more likely than HCD but anyone one would be great

It'd be less shocking to see Clinton-Dix because he's already been up here with Hart.

quiqsilver

transcribed the conversation. I figure it might be good at the top so everyone can follow along the posts. Thanks to quiqsilver again.

Caller:  There's rumors of a 5-star visiting in the next couple of weeks.  Do you have any idea who that might be?  Is it Jernigan -- somebody like that?  Sammy Watkins returning?

Webb:  Five star visiting in the next couple of weeks...  You know, at this point, I think Sammy Watkins will be on campus for the Iowa game.  Tentatively, he and Dallas Crawford are slated to come up on a visit, and Sammy Watkins is obviously a 5-star guy.  But you know what -- how 'bout this.  It is -- Michigan's start to the season has been head-turning, so just remember now what I'm saying.  You'll look up in a week or two, and I think there is a very good chance that you'll look up and be shocked by at least one guy that you see at a game.  Maybe two, but certainly one.  Come back on the Recruiting Roundup at that time and say 'eh', this is who I was talking about.  Not Sammy Watkins, who I expect to be on campus, at least tentatively that's the plan right now -- things can, and always do, change.  But at this point, that's the plan.  But no, another prospect.  Based on the way that Michigan has started off the season, his interest has been piqued, and is planning a visit.  And now, certainly is -- he's wanted to keep that out of the news, so I'm going to respect that for the time being.  And obviously if and when he shows up on campus the cat will be out of the bag, but he is certainly saying that he wants to -- or he is certainly saying that he is giving Michigan another look, and we'll certainly report that when he gives us the word that we can, but at this point, he hasn't given us the word that we can yet.  Hey, maybe he doesn't show up.  But at this point, it certainly seems to be something that he is seriously contemplating.  So, just a little heads-up for a future Recruiting Roundup, alright?

Trey

Trey DePriest? He sounds like a good fit for a surprise 5* trying to stay under the radar that casted us off. Also, I'm sure he sees immediate playing time at a position of need with 2 seniors graduating this year.

Karlos Williams is an absolute freak.  Hands down the best player we could pick up.  However, I think we have a snowball's chance in hell of actually getting him.

Oh I guess I should learn to actually read the whole post.  Someone is going to simply show up at a game?  No offense to anyone/OP, but unless it's a commit I don't really care.  Mea culpa.

Edit: Don't mean to come off as a dick, but I'm just done getting my hopes up on any recruits.

Williams also

trains with and is friends with Dee Hart and Nick Patti.  I read somewhere Williams may visit with Nick Patti at some point.

This would be huge because both Nick and his father really like Michigan.

Clinton Dix

is extremely unlikely because, though he has been up here once, is commited to the #1 team in the country with maybe the best defensive coach in the country.

Going up to AA again would mean things be gettin real serious with M, which goes against the convential wisdom that he would be extemely hard to pull.

Other guys (Jackson, Thomas and Williams) are uncommited or kinda softer than HCD, in my opinion.

Ha-Ha is coming back up with Dee on an unofficial visit so if Sam is keeping this info to himself, the cat is out of the bag. I'm sure it is someone else, maybe DePreist or Karlos.

Karlos Williams

Williams has stated in the past that he is keeping an eye on UM, and how they do this season. With our success this year, I think he will end up taking a visit.

Jernigan's already said he'd be visiting,

though according to Tim's recruiting post today he hasn't picked a game. (This is assuming that "Jerigan" is just a typo and not some 5* whiz none of us has ever heard of, in which case he would be a pretty big surprise.)

They do this every yr, some player will visit and it will shock

everyone...he is going to visit..... game....

Game comes and goes, no visit, doesn't happen...then comes the well..... coach got a hold of it and put a stop to it......  then they say it was a msu recruit that really wanted michigan but someone interfered and won't let them do it.....

yes we know fred smith was kidnapped so he couldn't visit michigan as was charles burrell, will gholston wasn't allowed to visit as was others.  Sorry I am no longer on this bandwagon of msu can stop a hs kid from visiting michigan......   BS.

BTW, everyone is free to call me out if I am wrong!  Don't get be wrong, I like samwebb and the crew, but this is about keeping people hanging on....and it could be recruits doing it, but I do not buy it at all....NEXT

had a block M tattooed on his forearm.  My guess is a QB given how Denard has lit it up - Miller would be a 5-star shocker.

My $$ is on DeAnthony Thomas, although the "shock everyone" quote leads me to suspect it's a Buckeye commit that will be here.  Braxton Miller or Trey DuPriest?  Nothing would make me happier than for us to start stealing OSU's commits;  not surprising though, as we're becoming the most exciting program in college football.  Go Blue!!

A question.

I thought Ha'Sean's visit with Dee for the UConn game was an official.  It was an official for Dee, right?  Was it not an official for Ha'Sean?  He was sitting next to Dee in the first or second row!  I have to question/protest anybody's suggesting that Michigan or Ha'Sean were doing anything wrong with respect to that visit.  Whether Ha'Sean was "official," or not.

How could nobody have guessed

How could nobody have guessed Arnett yet?

To me this seems the obvious choice. Sam said the season has been eye opening for this recruit and what could be more eye opening than how well the passing attack has been clicking this year (other than Denard of course)?

It wouldn't be shocking if you ever talked to him

Took my kids to Lamarr Woodley's camp this summer and DeAnthony was there.  Must have spent 30 minutes talking with and I wished him well in college even though he had eliminated us.  He told me he was talking with the coaches.  He also mentioned his friendship with Devin and how good Denard was looking.

He asked me where I thought the program was headed and thought I was crazy when I told him Michigan would be bowl eligible this year, contending for Big 10 titles in the next year or two and be a NC contender by 2012.  He took a picture with my kids and was overall a great kid, but still had some academic work to do.

Good point

I've been wondering about him.  I could understand him being down on us before the year because our receivers didn't produce that much the last two years, but now we're starting to see them make a lot of big plays - and they'll continue to do so, since Denard's presence practically guarantees single coverage.

If you listen to the podcast

If you listen to the podcast you'll notice it was the caller who mentions a five-star coming in soon. To which Sam names someone... then he says the season is opening eyes and someone who would surprise us might come in for a visit (I'm paraphrasing). So I don't know where this the "surprise" guy is a five-star stuff is coming from... he never said it was a five-star. He just threw it in as an aside in a the middle of answering the guys question about a five-star visiting in the near future. It seemed like a separate thought to me.

Come on guys they do this every yr....

( state this saying samwebb is my boy but this is all to generate recruiting buzz for the premium service)

This top recruit is going to visit, it is going to be a shock to everyone when you find out who it is......he is going to visit for ... game.....

So i might as well join in! De'Anthony Thomas? Braxton Miller? Teddy Bridgewater? Mike Bellamy? George Farmer? Christian Westerman? Steve Miller? Curtis Grant? Sheroid Evans?

But seriously. Everyone's taking shocking to mean he's super blue chip, five star. I'm not saying that's the case, but let's all be prepared if this to be someone like a mediocre Buckeye commit

Not HaHa or Drew

Haha isn't a surprise visit (he already visited).  Plus, on the eve of Haha and Dee Hart's Bama weekend I highly doubt he would be talking about a visit back to AA.

Also, Webb talked about Drew earlier in the roundup.  So it won't be him.

My guess is it's Karlos Williams.  Makes sense because the way Webb described it, it sounded like the 5-star was committed somewhere else (similar to HaHa, he wanted to keep the rumors quiet).  DePriest would be unreal.  UNREAL.  But Karlos would be nice too.

Caller:  There's rumors of a

Just because seemingly

Just because seemingly everyone is chiming in, and it's basically a free for all....I'm gonna say, "I hope to AMH_G that it's Lawrence Thomas."

Ohhhhhhh what a tangy, aromatic, dripping FU that would be.

Holy S***, I just thought of a way it could get better................if he came to the UM v MSU game, stood on our sidelines and announced that, "yeah.....I've had a change of heart" as he rips off his State hat (the one with the 187th edition of the MSU logo) and puts on one of his new teammate's winged helmet.

It's not gonna happen, but in the twisted Spartan-loathing world that is my mind, it's going down just like that.

Respect the "gut"

Although Sam's not stating he has his infamous "gut feeling" about this recruit, it's nice to know that recruits are changing there view on Michigan.  Also, I really like the fact that RR is recruiting potential players until they sign with another university.
