ON Scout this Justin Davis fellow is listed as a 5* and the #3 back. At 6'1'' 200lbs. It seems like both he and Ty are their prototype at USC and they hope to land one. They seem to be the same player, and yes Davis has offers from everyone as well.

...have a very tough decision to make with distance, academics and coaching philosophies to consider.  I gotta think that some of the top-talent WRs and RBs see the total Michigan package, including highly-rated QB and OL; we will land our share.

USC is going to win another national championship in the very near future. I would rather see the Trojans win it instead of a SEC school.

I don't know.  At least the SEC schools can claim that everyone else is dirty so they have to do the same to compete.  Sure, Oregon isn't spotless, but the Pac-12 is squeaky clean compared to the SEC.  USC's cheating gives them a pretty significant advantage when you put it in local (conference) context.

Well, let's see. He coached for the Raiders. I think they are semi-pro or something. He also coached for U-Tennessee, which is in which conference again? That's right. Lane Kiffin isn't preferable to the SEC, he comes straight from the SEC. (Where he set a standard for sucking at a once-excellent program. Feel free to make your own Derek Dooley comments.)

USC is as good a bet as anyone to win the title in 2012.  They return something like 18 offensive/defensive starters from a very good team, including Matt Barkley, and have a favorable schedule (e.g., Oregon and Notre Dame at home).  Their toughest non-Oregon game is probably at Stanford, but that's on September 15th, well before Stanford should settle into its post-Luck groove.  Plus, with the Pac-12 team with the best record playing a home game for the conference title, USC really just has to protect its home field.

True but most of those guys are gone when Isaac would arrive in '13. The reduced scholarships won't really start to show until '13 or '14. With all of USC's success in the 2000's people seem to forget they were god awful in the 90's

It's one thing to take a four hour drive with your mom to see a college campus. It's another thing to take a four hour flight with your mom to see a college campus. The fact that his final visit was his second trip to USC and that he took his mom with him doesn't make me feel good about our chances. My impression is that his mom wants him to stay local, he wants to go to USC, and he's trying to get his mom's blessing for him to commit to USC. I don't see that ending well for us.

of whether or not we get him, we have fitz for 2 years and deveon smith/shallman to go along with rawls.  We will have an awesome running game regardless.

I agreed with the gloom and doom post a couple of messages above re: Isaac specifically. But I agree with this one as well. Isaac is icing on the cake. HELLA GOOD icing, but icing nonetheless.

We aren't guaranteed Fitz for two years and I would like to have Isaac on top of the other kids. The more options the better. It's nice to have a monster OLine. It's nicer to have elite running backs running behind a monster OLine (Rawls, Shallman, and Smith seem good but lack the speed to be elite).

Im not really worried if he doesn't commit. We're going to have a full stable of backs, including one of the best, if not the best backs in Ohio committing to us for the 2013 class. We already have a wealth of talent at the position.

I agree, but with one slight difference.  If Isaac does not commit I will most definitely be bummed because he is the 2013 commit I've always wanted most in this class.  However, our running game will still be one of the top 10/15 in the country going forward with our beastly O-line coming in and the newly installed O.  On the other hand, if he commits and lives up to his potential, with Smith and Shallman as bruisers by his side, I see us having a top 5 (perhaps top) rushing attack in the nation a few years from now.  And I love me a good running team.  That is why I want Isaac to commit so badly

I think Smith is more anxious then the rest of us... what 4* 5* RB wouldnt want to run behind the offensive line we'll have in a couple of years from now? Aside from the talent, do you see how bad the 2012/2013 recruiting classes want a national championhip?! Besides academics, chemisty and opportunity have to be on top of the list... which is why im already impressed with our kids thus far!

Because of depth chart reasons I bet he thinks he's more likely to get that at USC than at Michigan. The lure of being the sixth Trojan to win the Heisman as a RB (5th if you take Reggie Bush off the list) will be too strong. Love to see him in Ann Arbor, but we're in great shape at RB anyhow.

We've lost out on some 'borderline' top recruits as of late. I think we're due. Bring on Isaac, he will make the last RB to wear #32 proud. LET'S GO!

It would be great if he comes but not the end of the world if he doesn't. We will be fine. Our class is truly tremendous.

We all love Hoke, but Kiffin is documented as both assistant in the early 2000s and as the current head coach, to be one of the top recruiters in the country.   The guy can call a game too. People don't like him for a lot of reasons, but his ability to attract blue chip players is as good as there is.

Sanctions or no sanctions, they are a top 10 program for the next decade. Michigan measures up and in some areas exceeds USC in all areas, but the amazing weather and location.  Also there is the matter of the current barren state of USC's tailback depth. That's the main reason why I think Isaac is a goner.

Agree; USC's campus is NOT picturesque Malibu or glamourous Beverly Hills, or even the happening Hollywood Hills.

UCLA's campus is much nicer; too bad their football program is now a smoking crater.  WTF ever happened to them?  Somewhere in the 1990s Petey-boy absolutely locked down all the talent in California.

1. Hawaii has no local talent. LA has tons of it. 2. There are no beaches in the Hills, Beverly or Hollywood. 3. I love Michigan beaches, and they're great from June-August. LA beaches are a lot nicer than Michigan beaches in November, though.

Offensive lines make great tailbacks, and not the other way around. I'd welcome him in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't trade any of our O-line recruits for him.
