Iowa is Dead.....your morning pregame open thread

Submitted by jamiemac on

A brilliant, sunny Go Blue morning here in northwest Ohio. High fived a couple fellow MICH fans that I saw at the park on my somewhat chilly morning run. And Go Blue'd the one OSU fan I saw. But, he wasnt running, was kinda overweight and I think he had been in th park all night. Hey-O!

Iowa is soooooo done like dinner in a few hours

Otherwise, I need a best bet or two for the day, so let me hear them

IMO missing one for a nephew's birthday party is most definitely not normal... but maybe that's why my family complains about me.  If it were me I would drop on M t-shirt on the kid and catch the game...at 3 he has no idea what you are doing and everyone else can take a hike.

the ESPN story about the tornado that hit Alabama? They are interviewing Bama long snapper Carson (?) Tinker.

Say what you will about ESPN, but their feature stories are outstanding.

Ron Zook is using the bye week to fine tune his strategic punting chart.  He's thinking things are risky at the 35 yard line.  Watching Ferentz closely today for good punting tips.

Just got a call from where I work back in Iowa.  Couple of the guys wanted to make bets on this game.  MICH wins- they work till close next Saturday. IOWA wins- I work... I accepted and it better not come back to bite me in the butt because I'm at college 8 hours away.

Glad to report that there are no snowstorms dumping a foot of snow in South-Central PA this fine Saturday morning.  What a difference a week makes!

Also, kudos to York, PA for sending a crew to clean up my completely destroyed tree, and without my even needing to ask!  I guess this is civilization after all!

Time to feast on some hawkeye...

I love the Toledo Metroparks.  They're the best parks I've ever seen.  As for best bets I agree with a few above.

Arkansas -5 at home over South Carolina and Oklahoma State -21 at home over Kansas State.

I'm also thinking Baylor -2.5 over Mizzou.  Baylor has one of the best offenses and one of the worst defenses.  Mizzou has average of both (leaning a little to offensive side).  I trust Baylor a little since they're at home.

The safer play is Baylor/Mizzou Over 73 points.  The only 1-A game they've played that was under 73 points was at Kansas State and it was a total of 71.  They've had more games (3) in the 80s than games (2) in the 70s plus one game that had a total of 98 points.

No doubt this was the same feeling in the UM locker room just prior to our games in West Lafayette in '76 and in Minneapolis in '77. We were ranked #1 both times and all true UM fans knew there was no way the Boilers and the Gophers were going to put up any kind of fight. Those games were in the bag.

Does anyone have that video of the camp where Devin worked out as a WR? I was telling some friends that I expect a Denard to Devin touchdown before the season ends, and now I want to watch that film.

Got out of some nonsense event with the wife, all primed. Lucky shirt on, beers in the fridge. About 10 people 'Go Blue!''d me this week on the streets (Montreal, doesn't happen that much), so must be something up.

Feel this is absolutely the most important game of the year...until next week of course. Let's surge into the stretch run with a win lads!

Anyone just see the few clips they showed on College Gameday of our boys warming up? Looks like there's more of the yellow stripe on the back (similar to last year) than the Northwestern away jerseys...
