Any favorite feeding stops? The more inexpensive the better... But any good, locally based the better

If you're looking for inexpensive, you can't go wrong with Jumbo Slice. There are a number of Jumbo Slices in the Adams Mogran neighborhood (an original and a bunch of equally delicious knock offs). They have cheap slices that are HUGE (bigger than your face, requiring at least two plates to support). I highly recommend.

Jumbo slice?!?! Blasphemy! Gotta be Pizza Mart!

To the OP and those not familiar with DC: Jumbo Slice and Pizza Mart are the National & Lafayette Coneys of Adams Morgan neighborhood. Both are good, essentially right next to each other, were started by brothers, and make the same slice, although Pizza Mart has spicier sauce.

EDIT: Saw the poster say something similar below - don't get either at this time of day. You have much better options. Pizza Mart and Jumbo Slice should be post-midnight only.

Heh, agreed. To get cheap pizza on Adams Morgan, you should be drunk. Not so drunk that you can't find your way there from the Adams Morgan metro stop (it's quite the trek) but drun enough that you get lost walking back and need to call a cab to get to a metro station (I'm speaking from experience here).

But yeah, Jumbo Slice and Pizza Mart are much more enjoyable later at night.

If you stay on the Zoo side Indique (one metro stop up at Cleveland park) is quite good.  If you do venture over to Adams Morgan I recommend Amsterdam falafel.  Open City, just around the corner from the Woodley park Chipotle, is also pretty tasty.

There are tons of eateries if you walk toward the Jumbo Slice place.  Also, whenever i'm in DC, i usually arrive via buses to chinatown, so I always went to the Potbelly right there... we finally have one in NYC now, so I'm pretty pumped about that.

Walk down to Adams Morgan. Skip the jumbo slice and grab a seat at Amsterdam falafel. Or head to u st for bens chili bowl - which is also a landmark - and enjoy a chili cheese half smoke.

Way late but Petits Plats is a really good place on Connecticut and Woodley. They have really good pizzas. But it's also a French place. Decently priced

Meridian Pint or RedRocks on 11th Street in Columbia Heights. It shouldn't be more than a 10 minute cab ride, and you'll get to experience a part of DC that isn't normally frequented by out-of-towers. Meridian Pint is high end bar food and great beers. RedRocks pizza is very good. Afterwards, walk two blocks south for a beer on the patio at Wonderland Ballroom.
