Interviews part IV: G Glasgow, Poggi, Winovich, Malzone Edition (and Isaac again)
As we move ever closer to game week, the trickle of media day videos still continue to be released. This time we have Graham Glasgow talking about the OL, Henry Poggi and Chase Winovich talking about the transition to TE, and Malzone talks about the QB competition. Chase especially gives some good insight to how Harbaugh went about proposing the switch to him. There's also another Isaac video where he talks about the transition and his family a little. (Had to double check the roster because the video uploader spelled it Issac)
I'll also update if I see any more posted today. As always, embeds below.

Glasgow: 3 things Harbaugh (and all UM coaches) emphasises
1) Improving every day, every play; 2) Playing physical football ("hearing football" (not just a Hoke phrase...??); 3) not making mental errors.
Basic stuff...here's to hoping it translates.
Based on Harbaugh's track record, I believe he will turn things around. But interestingly, neither Poggi, Winovich, Isaac, nor Glasgow really give the reporters that much when asked "What's different this year." Maybe they're tired of the question, reporters trying to get a good quote on what Harbaugh's unique style or secret is. We'll see if the differences translate.
These guys sesem less animated than Bolden/Jehu at Big 10 media day... anyone know they less dynamic/energetic speakers, or more tired because of practice? Or maybe they are starting to get jaded with the same questions? Who knows.
Like others here have said, let's just start winning. We don't need quotes about how new S&C, coach or system are different--we just want to win.

I really, really like the fact that Harbaugh made a call to the parents to talk it over with them. Seems like a smart move all around to make sure everybody involved (cause let's face it, these are still kids) is onboard.

I never would have thought to call the parents, but once I think about it, it does make sense for 2 reasons. First, parents talk to and recruit other prospects to the program.
More importantly, they influence the kid's attitude during transition. Bad additude can be infectious--One bad apple can spoil the bunch.

One of the top five rules in (high school) coaching:
Always keep the parents, maintenance staff, and cheerleaders on your side. Any one of those three goes sour and your life can get miserable real quick.

My brother works at a sports bar in Jackson, Ohio. He saw a couple with BW3 bowl shirts on. He is a huge UM fan too so he asked them if they went to said bowl. They said their son plays for UM. Turns out they were Tom Strobel's parents. Harbaugh called and told them their son would be a goalline TE/H back and DLine.
PS, if ever in Jackson, Ohio for some reason, stop at Arch and Eddie's. The red headed bartender/waiter is my brother, Dusty. He would appreciate a GO BLUE! in the middle of buckeye country.

I am talking about Chase by the way.

6´3" / 230 lbs - with a mindset of wanting to find you and knock you into yesterday - is kinda nice to have blocking/ leading the way.
Who knows maybe he can catch the rock?
He mentioned Harbaugh liked his speed...
He either has "something" that JH likes or (worst case)they think he won't see the field as an LB.
The coaches always talk about Harbaugh's eye for talent.

Has there been any posts with interviews with Darboh?

Can easily see he has leadership qualities. Not surprising that he's a QB. Wish him well as he pursues that job here at UM. There are no guarantees of success, obviously, but he certainly seems to have the right demeanor.

People have said that Jehu is the best speaker on the team but I would put Ty right up there with him. Very nice interview here. He comes across as genuine, responds appropriately to each question and his responses are well thought out and put together. Happy to have him representing the university and looking forward to seeing him on the field.

Perhaps behind Peppers, Ty Isaac is the player I'm most excited to see on the field this year. Have a feeling he is going to be that true #1 back we have been missing for a few years now...

agree

I think Mike Hart was our last true #1 back. Been a while ...

Was trying to be generous, but you're right. By "a few", I really meant "a lot".

I'll always remember this about Ty:
"Joliet Catholic's Isaac ran for an all-class state final record 515 yards — 376 in the first half — and six touchdowns, only the third time in recorded state history a back in Illinois has topped 500 in a game."

At first I thought to myself, "Why not just release it all the day it happens?" But then thinking from a logical point of view, it makes more sense to spread it out over time until game week is here. There likely won't be much big news releases until then short of an injury. I doubt Harbaugh even names a QB starter until game week at the earliest unless someone is just blowing the others away.

I hope they'll have the starter—or at least the two-deep—finalized by the end of this week. That would allow about ten days of practice for the starting unit. Does not seem wise to wait until Game Week to designate the starting unit since it's a Thursday game, and Wednesday will be a travel day. But, WTF do I know?
