"Looking back, my decision to go to the University of Michigan was just the best decision that I've made in my life."

It's great to hear from former players like Sword and to see how influential their time at Michigan was.

Sam is a great dude. Used to run into him now and then when I worked at DTW and he was coming in and out of time. Very nice guy, always willing to talk a little Michigan football and polite and courteous even to the folks who had no idea who he was.

And a really nice guy. Sad to see the area lost him, but great to see him continuing to do good whereever he's at.

Favorite memories of Sam Sword:

Game ending interception to win the Iowa game in 97.  And his response to OSU and David Boston the week of THE GAME:  "If those guys want to talk, let them talk.  You can do all the talking you want but the game is going to be played on the field."

His voice always sounded like a double bass.
