An Interview with Jeremy Clark
"intrigued by [player's] measurables"
Put that up there with Bilas talking about a player's length, and penetrating the gap, as inherently creepy things said while talking sports.
Good read Magnus! Can't wait to see how this kid develops. In general this seems to be the way recruiting is going and how the roster is changing. More length throughout all positions.
whether I should accuse you of underselling or overselling this one...
What is this, real life Dora the Explorer?
Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. The fact that he earned a full ride from his greyshirt status seems to be a source of pride, as it should. 6'4" with sub 4.5 speed is pretty awesome. He seems like one of those players who dominated based on physical supremacy rather than skill (describing himself as a wide-out, he just ran go routes because he was bigger and faster than everybody). It'll be great to see what he can do once he gets coached up some.
To be a little realistic here - He ran a 11.56 100m and at his height 6'4" probably doesn't translate to a fast 40 time. Since this was the second fastest time in the area no doubt he was fast compared to the other competition.
Good article and look forward to how he will develop.
Yeah, those two don't really jive, and usually you would assume a 6'4" kid would have a 100m time more impressive than a 40. However, that's not always the case. If he's new to track and he's a fast twitch type, it could be that his 100m times were just never that great.
HOWEVA, 11.56 in the 100m isn't slow either, especially if he wasn't pushed all that much. He could just be a quick kid without elite top-end speed (also, this is from his juinor year, sounds like the only year he ran track). I wouldn't put much weight into that time. Who knows, maybe his small town area doesn't post many meet times on the internet, and 11.56 was from one meet where he was running into the wind on a 95 and muggy day. Not a ton of info to go on here.
It's funny how this article is saying how Madisonville is such a small town that Ann Arbor seemed like a thriving urban area. Before I moved to Ann Arbor, I lived in a town 3 times smaller than Madisonville, so Ann Arbor seemed like a metropolis to me.
Thanks for sharing this, Magnus.
He seems like a great addition to a class that also has some potentially solid players in the secondary such as Allen Gant and Terry Richardson. It will be interesting to see what happens once he hits campus full-time and is working with the coaches, but it seems like there is tremendous upside. I like the 4.47 for someone of that size - that should definitely do for, as he said, a "ballhawking safety".
Anyone complaining about Stribling should remember that most of us are happy that Clark is on the team

He linked the mobile version.
He seems to have a great attitude and seems pretty mature. Lots of players could have reacted different regarding the potential for gray shirting.
a really nice job with these interviews. Keep 'em coming!
Let's not oversell it.
But then again, you don't have Chantel Jennings, so....we'll call it a wash.
Well, yes I think that goes without saying. If you could get one of them to start doing video interviews with recruits, you'd have something tough to oversell.
