Interesting: UM 11th most picked team to win tourney on ESPN
I was just looking at teams picked to win by round at ESPN and fans have picked UM to win the championship 1.1% of the time, which is 11th highest. It seems that college bball observers have been paying attention to the recent success by the team. Or it just means that UM has a lot of homer fans.

ED: Michigan is Between 3-seed Oregon and 4-seed West Virginia. The next 7-seed or lower is 8-seed Wisconsin at #21 at 0.5%
1 Million Ding Dongs filled out 5 Million brackets!
This is almost always an invalid argument (e.g. when opposing fans say Vegas is giving Michigan more points than we should have because we have a large fanbase), but in this case, lotta Michigan fans out there.
lot of homer Michigan fans out there. Although, we aren't that far off in the (mostly efficient) gambling markets. We're the 20th most likely to win there. Which is probably about right, given how well we're playing.
Anyone see the Minny-MTSU score? MTSU up 15 with 14 left to go
Picked that one in the mgoblog bracket suckazzzz
Hahahaha, exactly. "Hey everyone, I picked the same "upset" as everyone else, which is a seeding upset, I guess, but actually not an upset at all, given that MTSU was favored by 2. YAY ME!"
dammit I thought I might have that one over some people. Guess everyone saw that one coming... What about the UVA over UNC wilington? Thats an upset right?

I'm saying this is wisdom of crowds
Well if you consider their fresh legs, the team is due to start shooting the ball lights out and that they've played in Indy how many times so it's kind of an advantage, things are looking good. I'd say if they handle Louisville convincingly, the sky is limit baby. Playing four games in four days and beating those tough teams was a damn tough task. They can blow out some of the best teams. Bring the swag!!

Was Minnihanna doing as a 5 seed.....Ridiculous
I'll admit it. I also want to win money with Michigan wins the tourney! So why not pick them?
Besides, if they keep playing like the did in the BTT, they really can beat anyone...
I don't think this is surprising. There are ten teams picked more often than us, and when you get that low, you aren't looking at stats or at seedings: You are taking a stab at an out-of-the-box winner.
And when you look for those, you look for hot teams and/or certain team characteristics (Hot PG!) that tend to produce tournament success. So, between homer Michigan fans and people who see Walton lighting things up and the "story" that would be fun to follow, people take a shot at Michigan.
At least, some of them do, after 10 other teams.
a 3 seed.
We got loyal peeps. Bet we were in the top 20 last year as like the fifth 11th seed.
