Interesting Running back stat

Submitted by cargo on

So besides Denard being on pace for 1500+ rushing yards our underachieving running backs are on pace for a thousand yards between them.  Which I find impressive since they get splits almost evenly and they haven't been very impressive.  So kudos to shaw and smith and hopefully they can keep up the pace/increase the pace.

a better word is perhaps inconsistent, though perhaps that is what you meant. Both have shown potential in the form of explosiveness, but this needs to be reconciled with some Mike Hart. Wait a moment... Mike Hart.. Demetrius Hart...

That is interesting considering Minor and Brown did not have 1000 yards combined last year.

OP is talking about the RB's, who currently have 674 yards through 5 games.  Extrapolate that out over 12 games and you get 1,618 yards by the RBs, which is still pretty good given the platoon and the fact that DR is all over the place.

EDIT: My mistake, I misread the OP.  DR, of course, is on pace for well over 1500 yards (2,232 yards, if he keeps this up).  Saw that number and assumed he was talking about the RBs, who actually are on pace for around 1500-1600 yards.

...far tougher defenses from here on out. It's going to be interesting to see how the offense clicks and how our defense responds to increasing adversity.

Note to RR:  Start recruiting for the defensive side of the ball, STAT!

Yes and no. You have to remember that we have no depth on the defensive side of the ball, especially the secondary. We had a couple guys transfer out just from the secondary and another one go down with a season ending injury. There is only so much you can do with that kind of depth. Next year will be better, and if we don't start seeing more improvement next year in the secondary (mostly) than maybe a coaching change will be in order. But keep optimism, we will be fine.

Well, we know from Saturday that Shaw, Smith and Fitz are the three backs the coaches trust and believe in. (Smith was the only back to touch the ball on Saturday. Hopkins was in for a play or two but didn't get a carry.)

But I do love the jumbo package for goal line situations.
