Interesting RUMOR on Paul Finebaum involving Michigan

Submitted by MGoCooper on

Yesterday on Paul Finebaum, an interesting rumor ws talked about, involving Michigan. It was stated, that Michigan coaches and Nick Saban have had discussions about Urban Meyer, and how to prepare for him. They have also made plans to meet this off season, and go over strategy. A lot of this coincides with the meeting next fall as well, but there's a mutual dislike between Saban and Meyer. I seem to recall hearing this from another source about a week ago, but can't remember where. The caller who reported this, is apparently a regular caller, who has broke quite a few stories. If this is true, it's quite interesting, and goes to show you how much the SEC dislikes Urban Meyer.

Disclaimer: I am NOT stating this as fact, just thought it was a rumor that the community would be interested in. I take every rumor I hear from SEC country with a grain of salt, as should the rest of you.

Ideally this would peeve Meyer and he would tell us how to prepare for Bama as well. The thing is, preparing for Bama is easy. Executing is hard. They do pretty normal stuff with little bling, however they do it very well. Urban isn't the same.

The Paul finnebaum "show" (if that's what you want to call it) is the worst sports radio program I have ever heard.

I was so excited when my new car came with Sirius radio and I found the college football station.

My excitement was quickly tempered when I was routinely subjected to the Paul finnebaum "show". Any idiot can sit there and take phone calls from redneck 'bama fans that just want to whine about the SEC. He adds nothing to the content of that show. It's terrible!

I'm in the same boat, with Sirius radio. I live in central Oklahoma, so naturally college football talk is about 45% OU, 40% OSU, 10% other Big 12 teams, and 5% the rest of the country. I thought a supposed nationwide college sports radio station would be an improvement. On Finebaum's show it seems about 50% or more is spent on the SEC, mayber 20% on the Big 12 (but mainly about Missouri and Texas A&M, go figure) and the rest little bits and pieces here and there around the rest of the country. Oh well. When my Sirius contract runs out, I'm not really going to miss it much at all.

I know Urban Meyer vistied with RR a few times while RR was here and I am pretty certain RR visited with Saban to see how he utlized TEs when he first srated here because he had so many TEs and hadn't used them frequently in the past...

I could be wrong AND I am not really sure how this plays into this post, BUT I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and it smelled like sex in there.

I don't really think it's a mystery as to what Urban tries to do on offense. All coaches need to do is watch the film and look for tendancies.

Perhaps it's a friendly conversation, but I highly doubt it's deep in scheme or that Saban has all of the answers. As someone already alluded to, it would almost be a slap in the face to Mattison if we think that he can't put together a gameplan.

I forsee the conversation going like this...

Hoke: "Wellllll...Meyer did a tremendous job down in Florida offensively, and we're trying to do an even more tremendous job defensively to stop the future OSU offense. Any suggestions?

Saban: "Recruit and oversign REALLY REALLY talented kids on defense."

Doesn't really tell you much about how you'd work against us. So some form of conversation is not out of the question. I'm sure Meyer is talking to Rich about Michigan. Tressel. Etc. And we're talking to people about him.

Yes, all you have to do is check out Borges's last interview that Boyz n da Pahokee linked to. He talks about seeking advice and input from other coaches as a matter of usual practice. I'm sure the same goes for other coaches as well.

Beating Alabama is urgent, but beating Meyer enduring. If we gain "the tide" over Meyer, we could set up a decade's dominance. That is, if he doesn't spend any more time with his family.

Just get in Urban's head, and sooner or later he will crack. Then he will blame it on health and not being there for his family which will put him back on ESPN till the Texas job opens up. I give it 4 years.

They can scheme all they want, but it will come down to talent. I don't see any of OSU's Big Ten opponents being able to recruit anywhere near the quality and quantity (oversigning) of Alabama.

I highly doubt this is true. But even if it were, Saban's record against Meyer is just 2-1. And if Florida and Bama had played in 2007 (Saban's first year), Tim Tebow would have destroyed Saban's 7-6 team. So basically they beat each other once in the SEC title game and Saban's squad crushed a crappy Florida team last year suffering the loss of Tebow. I don't think that really qualifies Saban as the master of knowing how to beat Urban Meyer.

in the first game of the year than any other. Nobody knows how good they will be until they get a couple of games under their belts.

I think Bama will be better overall than Ohio, but I think it will be easier to beat Bama in the first game than Ohio in the 12th. There will be no surprises in Nov., but many in Sept.

Finebaum is a total deushbag. I called in his show last week to ask some non Alabama question, which the dude who answers he phone first said "oh yeah we talk about all college team". What bullshit. So I ask what other bowl game he's lookin forward to and if he had any insight/analysis on the sugar bowl. That dickhead didnt even answer either question and then they wouldnt let my call back go thru. I hope we beat Bama so I can talk mad shit to that SEC lovin prik!!!
