Interesting article with regards to how Wiscy lost out on Bo and Knight

From today's "Bacon Blog" John U. Bacon takes a look at a pivotal 40 minute head coaching interview back in 1966 with Bo and Wisconsin.  Interesting stuff.

“Michigan didn’t need some silly committee or student rep to check me out,” Bo told me, “and I didn’t need any dime-store tour of the campus to appreciate what Michigan had to offer.”

Years ago I had the opportunity to have breakfast with Bo and Shemy (sp?) along with George Lilja at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes event here in Northern Ohio.  The four of us sat at a small table and I got to hear Bo tell that story first-hand, up close and personal.

Can you just imagine how different the Big Ten would've looked with both Bo and Bobby in Madison for the 70's and beyond?  Wow.

That's interesting.  I never knew that.

It should also be noted that Wisconsin offered Lloyd Carr the head coaching job in 1989 before they offered Barry Alvarez.  Lloyd thought about it but in the end, decided he didn't want to leave Michigan.  Good man.
