Interacting With Recruits
I'm with TOB on this one. I can't believe people would do this. Do they want to rebuild the program or not?
If you are the person who verbally attacked Anthony Zettel after Saturday's game because he hasn't committed to Michigan yet, or if you're the tool who flipped off James Ross and his father because they wore red and white ST. MARY'S PREP SWEATSHIRTS to the game, you're a piece of shit, and I'm embarrassed to cheer for the same team as you. Go jump off a cliff.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
wow. who would do that? seriously.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
Do not be too suprised, i see a lot of off the wall comments on Anthony's Facebook wall. It shouldn't amaze me, but it does. Some of the stuff grown adults put on his wall. They post video links and makes abrasive comments to other teams fans. Though Iowa fans seem to be the worst on his FB wall. I had to tell one to back off and leave him alone. That he was only a HS student and didn't need to be told where to attend college. It makes me sick that "fans" can be so damn intrusive. You could say it is his fault for accepting their friend request, but thats not fair to him.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:48 PM ^
You're just as creepy as them.
September 10th, 2010 at 12:47 AM ^
You're entitled to your opinion.
Like this quote from The Dead Pool movie says:
Harry Callahan: Well, opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one.
I am not telling them where to go, or trying to contact them on their walls. The comments are posted on my wall, in the newsfeed.
vos postulo aspicio vestri mendum , pro vos iacio calx procul alius.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:33 AM ^
Everyone has them and the all stink. I think that is the full saying about opinions being like a-holes.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:49 AM ^
I've always heard it, "Everyone has one and thinks everyone else's stinks."
September 9th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
Drunk morons.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:23 PM ^
That is horrible. Are the Michigan fans or are they doing this to make us look bad.
September 10th, 2010 at 6:50 AM ^
Is this where we see the grand revelation of the UCONN conspiracy to destroy Michigan? Who would be at the game specifically to make Michigan look bad?
Fans do stupid, embarrassing things. Believe me, I know. Sometimes you just have to keep your distance from them and hope that their self-immolation fireball isn't large enough to burn you. As they say, "Not everybody gets to be smart."
September 10th, 2010 at 9:07 AM ^
Those geniuses from the Northeast. Damn them....
I'm going to the ND game tomorrow. Should I dress up as Freakbass and flip off their recruits? It only seems fair.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:49 AM ^
I think you should dress up like Freekbass anyway, just to remind the ND fanbase of the godawful atrocity that was is.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:45 AM ^
Fans do stupid, embarrassing things. Believe me, I know.
Some buckeye fans really make you and Redneck Rocker look bad, huh?
September 9th, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
Just unbelievable. I guess there are bad apples in every fanbase.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
who happen to like Michigan Football. They are not Michigan fans. They don't care about the university. The term 'student athlete' holds no meaning for them. They don't see any difference between the team they root for on Saturday and the one they root for on Sunday. By doing things like bad-mouthing a recruit, they demonstrate their fandom for all to see.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:26 PM ^
This is absolutely pathetic. If anyone in the Zettel or Ross family happens to read this, please be assured that those actions are not indicative of the Michigan Family as a whole. Hopefully one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch, so to speak, and you can look past the ignorance of a few classless people.
EDIT: Beat out by mere seconds on the "bad apple" reference.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
It's tough to imagine. What would even be the point? As if there isn't enough mis-information floating around out there. If they could be led to believe that kind of stuff is representative of how things get done here that would do everyone involved a disservice.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:29 PM ^
Read some of the posts on this blog and then ask yourself that question again. The vast majority would never consider doing something like this but it only takes one to leave a bad impression. Hopefully their parents help them see the UM experience as a whole and not judge on an isolated incident.

September 10th, 2010 at 7:52 AM ^
I doubt there are many Michigan fans who would deliberately try to drive off good recruits in order to get Rich Rodriguez fired...
I'm guessing these fans are simply pissed off that Zettel hasn't committed and that Ross was wearing OSU colors. They're stupidly pissed off and immature, but in their drunken/stupid state, they probably think their verbal attacks will spur Zettel into committing to U of M.
September 10th, 2010 at 8:54 AM ^
I'm guessing these fans are simply pissed off that Zettel hasn't committed and that Ross was wearing OSU colors.
This happens more than you'd think. My wife got harassed on USC weekend for wearing Cardinal and Gold, even though she was just repping her Iowa State roots with a cyclones shirt.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:04 AM ^
I'm sure your wife is a very nice lady, but she should have been harassed - when you go to a football game, you should represent your fanship (whether it's for the home team or the away team).
If I were an MSU fan, I wouldn't go to a UM game in East Lansing wearing Clarkston colors.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:07 AM ^
Oh we weren't at the game, we were just walking about with the dogs (and it was Iowa-ISU weekend). I hear what you're saying, though; she wears OSU swag when we're at the 'Shoe.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:18 AM ^
I get pretty lucky living in the Toledo area. There are a TON of M and OSU fans, with a descent smattering of MSU, ND, PSU and a few MAC schools mixed in (namely UT, obviously, but also central, western, Miami (NTM), etc). As such, everyone is usually really cool about other teams colors except during the week of the game, because you HAVE to interact with them. I never have to worry about getting crap for wearing Maize and Blue.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
Well . . . that's stupid then.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:31 PM ^
September 10th, 2010 at 8:12 AM ^
But from the Scout article on Ross, it said that he was impressed with the passion of Michigan fans for being so offended by the colors. That's no excuse, but we got a pass with at least Ross. So hooray for an understanding kid right!
September 9th, 2010 at 10:33 PM ^
Stupid is what stupid does.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
Those people that would do this kind of thing are not Michigan fans...can't be...just can't be.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:37 PM ^
That is crazy. No amount of wobbly pops is excusable. As a Michigan fan, I apologize. That is not something I'm proud to be a part of. I'm proud of Brock walking, I'm proud of the way our team won yesterday.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
Glad to hear they still sell tickets to complete assholes. Go cheer for another team if that is the way you feel.

What does Pam think of that stache? And what are you going to do now that Michael is leaving the Office?
I saw a couple of mustaches for Michigan last weekend and chuckled every time - great stuff.
September 10th, 2010 at 7:48 AM ^
Dude chugging beer at the 1:44 mark clearly made a party foul.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:15 AM ^
This deserves its own thread. "Do you have uhhh, my notes, for statistics?"
September 10th, 2010 at 9:53 AM ^
And, good to know Moustaches for Michigan are becoming a national trend. Thanks for the endorsement Mr. Berman.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:18 AM ^
3:30 games. Nothing like those extra 3 hours of pregaming!
September 11th, 2010 at 3:25 AM ^
Not for me, 12:30pm game time here
September 10th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
Win for Michigan.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
September 9th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
It's unconscionable that someone would do that. They're fucking high schoolers. Way to represent the school you root for.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:49 PM ^
This is really bothering me. Is there security or university personel around. Someone should have shut these guys up. I am sick the more I think about it.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
This is pretty fucking terrible. I really really wish those people hadn't been wearing maize and blue.
If recruits or fathers of recruits read this, sorry.
Not much else I can say, but that this makes me really frustrated.
September 10th, 2010 at 12:11 AM ^
in the 1950's we stoped at stop lights in the country and waited and waited and waited for the green even if there was no one coming in either direction for miles. Now we run the stop lights and shoot guns (paintball or otherwise) as we drive through. In the 1950's no one cheated on taxes, now the guy running the IRS gets caught cheating says he is sorry and still keeps his job. It is a different time. Too bad even at a great school with great tradition there is decline. Great for those of you that would KICK THAT GUYS ASS!!!!
September 10th, 2010 at 12:22 AM ^
Is this serious?
September 10th, 2010 at 1:08 AM ^
wasn't there an assassination attempt on Truman in the 50's... and a shooting at the Capitol building... there were plenty of crimes in the 50's, School shootings, Not to mention good ol'd fashioned racketeering and bribery.
September 10th, 2010 at 2:09 AM ^
I've talked myself into the idea that the first and last lines are so over the top that this has to be a joke.
September 10th, 2010 at 1:03 AM ^
read Halberstam's The Fifties. You need some perspective 6t6.
Word to my obsession of late with recruiting...keep it real...very disturbing news.

has mistaken me for this dickhead Marcus Halberst(r)am. It seems logical because Marcus also works at P&P and in fact does the same exact thing I do and he also has a penchant for Valentino suits and Oliver Peoples glasses. Marcus and I even go to the same barber, although I have a slightly better haircut.
