Inside Michigan Football setup...

Submitted by ggoodness56 on
I can't decide if I like the way I like how RR does Inside Michigan football each week. Not going over each quarter was something that I looked forward to with Lloyd Carr every week because he would often tell about how scoring plays were created/ran/exploitations in the defense etc... RR and Brandstater just kind of generally talk about the game with some overarching themes and ideas inserted throughout. However, with that said, there seems to be more time for video clips of player interviews and offbeat stories that are quite interesting(e.g....coaches in the pressbox). Thoughts?

I much prefer the play by play that Carr used to do. Now its just RR giving his coach speak, and its stuff we have heard at 2 press conferences already. We played hard, we were happy we ran the ball, robinson can throw too, blah blah blah.

Could go over what they saw and ran agaisnt because he didn't suprise anyone. Not thinking Rrod wants to give away any idea's to his imgination on certain things. Carr never tried to fool anyone just out execute them with better players. It worked often enough for him to have a nice career. Rrod wants to suprise you on every play. His offense is based on the element you never know what we might do next. I love it!!

My understanding is that this new format is very much by design and intended to focus much more heavily on the players (notice the increased packages and interviews). The thinking is that since it's now on BTN (i.e., a much wider audience) it's sort of a recruiting tool..."come to Michigan and you'll be on TV." In any event, the UFR is much better and more complete breakdown anyways...the coaches (Carr, Bo, Moeller) never really had any interesting or revealing insight (playing it close to the vest). P.S. Now that I go back and look at the link above (the Michigan Replay website) notice how even there, the player quotes are forefronted on the upper right....again, part of the theme of giving exposure to the players.

People seriously miss Carr reviewing plays? That was painful regardless of a win or loss. I like the new format. The players are more candid under Rodriguez and they let fly with some great stuff. I could listen to Woolfolk, Graham, Tate and Robinson in particular all day. Besides, the games are usually replayed in their entirety on the B10 Network eventually if people just want to see the game film again. And Brian's UFR >>> anything you can squeeze into a 22 minute segent regardless of who the coach is.

Inside Michigan Football is the amount of access allowed into the program. They had video this week of the three coaches in the box. LC never would have allowed that. I like the show in the new format although I do miss the Larry Santos Productions music at the beginning. Does anyone know where to find that at? Thanks SG

I miss Michigan Replay on Sunday mornings... Or, at least, taping it and watching both the tape of the game and Michigan Replay on Sunday afternoons after church. Never been able to get into the new show.
