This just sets the table, as tomorrow we will see the starters.
Finally football!

2. Thank you.

I love how Harbaugh mentions Michigan Replay and the music. Anyone know why they had to retire it? I thought Bob Lipson held the rights to the show, if that's the case, wouldn't he be happy to see it back under Harbaugh? It sure sounds like Jim would've liked that.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:31 PM ^
That Harbaugh says he doesn't recall asking a team to work this hard in fall camp and have tihs level of focus.
Sounds like this was more of a year 1 thing to get things to the level he wanted it and he may ease off the gas just a touch during next year's fall camp.
I love that this team has been through a grinder like they'll never experience ever again. Lay that foundation and expectation.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:55 PM ^
he might just make it a tradition, and push the gas peddle a little more. The submarine sucks from a fan standpoint but we will all have a love/hate relationship with it if it produces feet in the mouths of the CFB media, and if any one can do that, it would be JMFH!
August 30th, 2015 at 3:23 PM ^
Under Schembechler it was called "The Fort"...same thing.
Camp will forever be camp.
But 4 hour practices and the constant pressure and intensity is what I'm referring to. I don't ever think it'll be loose, music will be playing and media will be invited.
I just think it'll be a touch more "normal" and this year was Harbaugh really laying a foundation and expectation for the future.
All the coaches said this was something like they've never seen too, that's telling because many have worked with Harbaugh in the past.
August 30th, 2015 at 3:52 PM ^
we're saying now, however if it's something none of these coaches have seen before and it produces great results, I think it is something Harbaugh should turn into the "normal" camp. If our team practices harder, in turn they play harder and more wins translate, and so forth and so on.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:33 PM ^
Wearing cleats.
lol - I say no more.
August 30th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
Also the khakis with cleats is great haha.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
Peppers is fantastic.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:51 PM ^
I started clenching my fist when he started speaking. I wanna go outside and hit somebody after watching that! Can't wait.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:52 PM ^
Like a musician hitting every note. Can't wait to see him on the field.
August 30th, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
Yes! I can't wait either.
There was a moment last year that stood out to me. The season had quickly turned into a disaster and Desmond Howard said on Gameday that he had watched Michigan''s practices that week and he did NOT like what he saw. He said the only one who seemed to be putting in any real effort and extra drive was Peppers. My heart obviously sank over that comment but it made me admire Peppers more.
I really want to watch him go out there and kick some ass.
August 30th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
no less. JP is a man filled to the brim with good qualities.
August 30th, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
He may be a coach around these parts someday.
August 30th, 2015 at 4:34 PM ^
If Peppers stays healthy he'll be an NFL star, rare is the NFL star that becomes a coach.
August 30th, 2015 at 8:06 PM ^
Harbaugh was a play away from the SuperBowl and he became one.
Depends on how much you love the game when you stop playing it.
Maybe Peppers will own a team instead.
August 30th, 2015 at 8:35 PM ^
you could just sense in his voice. He means what he says.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:40 PM ^
I'm right around Harbaugh's age and my Sunday mornings were exactly the same, Notre Dame replay with Lindsey Nelson, Michigan Replay and finally Bill Flemmings college football show.
August 30th, 2015 at 8:40 PM ^
there were only one or two games on the TV on Saturday then. Bill Flemming's show was a way to see highlights of all the Top 25 teams.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:41 PM ^
Bring back the music!
August 30th, 2015 at 4:23 PM ^
Petition?
August 30th, 2015 at 9:18 PM ^
Brian has appropriated the the former theme music for his own weekly podcasts. I think he's made the song a point of considerable attention for sometime.
I remember the old Nortre Dame game highlight show. As I recall, Paul Horning was also on with Lindsay Nelson's call to give some background color. Everytime I see an ESPN shortened game rebroadcast, I think of that ND show. But it's funny how that show and the old Michigan Replay resonate with Harbaugh. Childhood memories like that, however, tend to have a huge hold on us especially when we acquaint them with doing things we like, like playing football in his neighborhood after that show on Sundays.
I think it's also interesting in that regard that the question the show chose for Harbaugh to answer asked him when he thought about being a coach, and he related that the choice was made early to follow in his father's footsteps as his primary role model. I also couldn't help but think of that story about him sitting in Bo's office on his chair and being confronted by the coach. He was clearly daydreaming about another time then.
This coupled with his recollection of his playing days throwing TD passes to his former roomate and rangy tightend Paul Jokish, his dual threat qb style, his understanding of Michigan history and how Bo broke in in 1969 with one of the hardest camps in memory of participants, ought to tell you certain things about our coach and why he returned to Ann Arbor.
All in all, Harbaugh's first show was quite a revelation about his future and past.

"Enjoying each other's company in a football way" Love it.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:42 PM ^
Brandstatter found his true calling as host of Michigan Replay/Inside Michigan Football. I really enjoy him on that show. As for play by play...not so much! I sure hope we can find someone better!
August 30th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
Agree. Brandstatter is good at his craft.
August 30th, 2015 at 8:36 PM ^
he lost some weight too.
August 30th, 2015 at 2:43 PM ^

August 30th, 2015 at 2:47 PM ^

August 31st, 2015 at 1:45 AM ^
Can't agree more, diet soda is as bad, if not wose then regular! Coach needs to stick with the whole milk haha.

Brought a tear . . .

Peppers for President. Those interview highlights were a thing of beauty.
Have we ever had a RS Sophomore captain? Because I've found one.
August 30th, 2015 at 3:09 PM ^
He can only be a sargeant, I'm afraid... not a captain.
August 30th, 2015 at 4:29 PM ^
But later in life he can be a Dr.
August 30th, 2015 at 8:57 PM ^
I hope that he stays and gets his undergraduate degree so he can enter the medical field someday...

Nice to meet you Mr Peppers.
Yes, absolutely, I'd love to run through that wall with you!
August 30th, 2015 at 3:25 PM ^
I love that Harbaugh looked genuinely disappointed about them retiring the old Michigan Replay music. And him describing his Sunday mornings watching Michigan Replay with Bo and then going outside to play football with friends felt like he was describing my own childhood! Very cool. Can't wait till Thursday. Can't wait! (Bart Scott)
August 30th, 2015 at 8:10 PM ^
Yes. To understand Jim Harbaugh, you only need to undersatnd that he is the world's oldest middle schooler.
All the fun, crazy things middle schoolers do, that is what he does. All the rude, obnoxious things middle schoolers do, he does those as well.
He is pure.
