Texas vs Oregon.

He took some heat off his seat getting the Longhorns to 7-3, but they ended up being just an average team. Call it a career for Mack Brown.

Yes, COTTON bowl still has the name (but not the BCS prestige).

They lost a conference title, a BCS game, and a game against their Big Brother - all in the final minute at home.

Okie State does bring fans.

Mat Hatter is more dangerous when his team is the underdog and he's got something to be excited about.

Ferentz did the 3rd best job in the B1G, only behind Dicktonio and Kill/Assts.

MSU was 7-6 last year to 12-1 now. Iowa went from 4-8 to 8-4. Coaches do have a CRAP year once in a while, but good coaches don't sit around and use the "youth" excuse or panic and play 12 different O-line combinations, just to cover the O-Line's butt.

except for the sophomoric jabs.  OSU was heavily favored in almost all of their games this year so if anything they slightly underperformed expectations outside of their record.  I know we had hoped prior to the year that they would drop a few games based on the flawed 12-0 last year but they were a better team - at least on paper - going into 2013.

Man I wish that OSU would've ended up in the Sugar Bowl against Bama. Would've been nice to see OSU end out their year with getting ripped up and down the field by Saban and Co. like a bunch of rag dolls.

All those wins, and Urban would've had absolutely nothing to show for it. Oh well, let's hope Clemson doesn't Clemson again.

Whatever people might think of Notre Dame, the prediction for Notre Dame and Rutgers could very well be pain, and if the stats are any indication, it is rather unlikely that Rutgers will be the team inflicting the pain. Indeed, Massey would give Rutgers all of a 7% predicted win probability in such a game. Of course, for some reason, such statements tend to be somewhat inaccurate in boel games.

anyone tell me some stuff about K-State? I watched them a couple times last year with Klein, but not at all this year. Are they any good? I hope not. I think a big win in this bowl could go a long way toward our team building for a solid year next season. Go Blue!!

KState is kind of the Rodney Dangerfield of college football teams: nobody respects them.  All they do, though, is put up winning season after winning season under coach Snyder.  They're not nearly the team they were last year; obviously Klein had a lot to do with that, and Snyder seems to have to rebuild every year because he depends on so many JUCO players.  They never rank very high in recruiting because of that, and the pre conference schedule is notoriously weak every year, but somehow Snyder makes a dangerous team out of them.  They aren't world beaters, but they give just about everyone a good game.  They played Baylor, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, all pretty decent teams, close this year.

LSU without Mettenberger is a Win for Iowa.  Mark it down.  Many of you make the same mistakes year in and year out assuming all these games results by looking at the names and making haste predictions.  Giving any team 3 weeks to prepare is incredible and can make for some good games.  (We can only hope for a 2004 Citrus Bowl replay with a hail mary toss for the win with no time left).  K-state started horribly but "turned it around" late in the season.  I still think they suck but can only imagine an outcome where we get big headed (as a fan that is, it'll turn around and bite us).

Anywho, a Bowl win would be a nice touch to end the season and we have a very real chance at accomplishing that (although playing a wounded Georgia team and winning that in a sexier Bowl game would be even better).  Snyder will have them prepared so a W isn't a given, obviously, but I think we're far too athletic to lose this game.  It's great that they get all this extra practice time though; let's hope it gets put to good use i.e. not installing more Tackle Over sh*t.

I mean, I won't argue with that.  It was a frustrating season, "tackle Over" being an easy target at one point (coming out of the bye week, it working for a game and then failing).  Anywho, like everything else it wasn't executed.  Using said scheme and executing it may have lead to a decent outcome.  Stanford says so, anyway.

So yeah I was a bit hasteful myself, above.  If they practice it and can operate it for success, why the hell not?!  I guess maybe I'd rather they get better at more normal and base play blocking schemes first, before using the time (like earlier in the season, it seemed) on the constraint and "trickeration" of Tackle Over.

See, maybe, just maybe that's part of the problem. Instead of concentrating on something that will work over an extended period of time, Michigan concentrates on gimmicks that will work for a game (and a meaningless one at that).

do give small teams extra practices and something to look forward to. The problem with the bowl system is that the school is forced to pay for an allotment of tickets no matter whether they are sold. They also are forced to stay in certain pricey hotels and are forced to use other services that jack up the cost as well. Talk about a bunch of crap. After paying for expenses and tickets many schools lose a ton of money in the process. If they want these bowls really bad, the bowl itself, the TV network and the corporate sponsor should pay for travel and lodging for the schools that compete. Then they should let the schools themselves determine how many tickets they want. This would fix the system, but also take millions out of the thieves' pockets who run them.  It will be a gigantic money grab until someone finally takes charge of this mess.
