Infractions Hearing in Seattle

Submitted by Horace Prettyman on

Does anyone have any info on the infractions committee hearings that are set to take place in Seattle on August 14th?  Time, place, open to the public?  As a Seattleite, I was planning on tailgating the hearings.  It's never too early to throw on my block M tie, drink a couple of bowls of loudmouth soup and support the program.

I would think Michigan gets to state their case correct or is the punishment already decided for us?

Basically is there anything our side can say to bring down the penatly there or is a similar case from the past the guidlines for the punishment?

RR said it's going to be a lawyer-y event, and they've done a runthrough with everyone who's going from Michigan with a mock panel for the NCAA (which is apparently 4 people), along with some smaller-group runthroughs.

I believe Michigan presents their case as outlined in the response, the NCAA asks them questions about it that they respond to, and there's a bit of back-and-forth. A couple weeks later, the NCAA presents its final ruling. They're likely to accept Michigan's proposed punishments.

Don't we have the right to appeal the final ruling, if need be?  (I believe we did in the Ed Martin case, which got the postseason ban reduced from two to one seasons.)

Regardless, the penalties will most likely be minor and we can put this ridiculous matter behind us.

im sure the mgostalkernet will have a flight tracker up and running.  they can give you a airport where they'll land (a small charter plane probably wont land at seatac).  from there, you can follow their cars to the hotel (probably some nice place downtown).  then follow them to the hearing site.

Why are the hearings all the way out in Seattle?  I mean the NCAA is in Indianapolis, why not just do it there?  Of course knowing the lack of common sense in the NCAA, I should be surprised that it's not in Tokyo.
