When even diehards like Brian have said they won't be going to an outdoor hockey game down there.

Looking on TicketMaster, the lower seating is sold-out, with a ton of empty seats in the upper deck. Progressive has a capacity of 43,441; I'd be surprised if Ohio can fill 51% of that.
They might have gotten a sweet deal to have the game in Cleveland, but their better bet would probably have been hosting the game at Columbus Crew Stadium, or something closer to Columbus or up near Toledo.

having it at 5/3rd field would have been nice. I remember we played at the hunington center in like 2009 vs bg and it was a really nice set up. the very small crowd was definetly pro michigan.

baseline and the fact my seats are basically all the way down the first base line where the last row of the bottom level is. My seats are in section 128 lower level row J.

OSU fans don't go to hockey games. It's a shame since they are very good this year. I would expect the stadium to be half empty and UofM should be able to overwhelm the OSU fans no problem. I live up here and I only get to see OSU when they play at Munn or Yost, unless I want to drive 6hrs.

Anyone have any bars they plan on going to in Cleveland? I imagine it will be mostly a pro-OSU crowd. I'm headed down with a couple of fellow Michigan-grads, would be nice to see some fellow fans during the pre-game.

I think it was Ira this morning on 1050 and he said it best, This game is going to be a lot of osu fans who don't give a sh*t about hockey and will be very drunk. Then most of the michigan faithful will probably shoot to the bars after the game to watch the playoffs and I believe thats the ravens vs texans game. if anyone shows up in cleveland in michigan gear and then rooting for the raven in the bar that night, you won't becoming home alive.

I live in Westlake (western suburb of Ctown) and it isn't nearly as bad in this area as it is in Cbus. Don't worry about the Ohio honks at bars if anyone is going to them downtown. 1) It's hockey and they don't care, which is surprising because they're a good team this year and Ohio fans are always looking to jump on a bandwagon, 2) We won in football and that's all that matters.
I can't wait for this game. I'm wearing my Michigan gloves, Michigan coat, and one of my Michigan knit hats. I had to get tickets in one of the Ohio sections because all those tickets in the pre-sale with the codes were sold out in the Michigan sections. I'm not worried though because I think there are many Michigan fans in my same boat who had to buy Ohio section tickets to be there in the lower sections. It will be a good time.

There are plenty of OSU meatheads around Cleveland. OSU fans may not care about hockey but they do care about hating Michigan.

I'll be at the Great Lakes Brewpub. It's like half a mile from the stadium and GL is up there in the "greatest thing from Ohio since Charles Woodson" category.

Quick and Loans Arena is an awesome place to eat and to grab a beer! I'll be there before and after the game to grab some food. EAT AWAY FROM THE STADIUM. I've been to Progressive and food is NOT cheap in that stadium.

The UM Club of Cleveland is hosting a pre-game party at Houlihan's in Tower City, which is a short walk through an underground walkway from Progressive Field. Starts at 1 pm, we've been promised drink specials and appetizers.

Thanks for the plug for the UM Club of Cleveland's Tailgate.
Here is this afternoon's email from the Club President with a bit more detail:

I'm not even sure the OSU student body is fully aware they have a hockey team
January 12th, 2012 at 7:42 PM ^
Even with free student tickets, osu rarely gets to 1/8 capacity at the Schott (which does seat like 17K).

And be careful driving... I think the weather is about to get craptastic.

Will be there on Sunday with my housemate. GO BLUE!
January 12th, 2012 at 9:43 PM ^
I looked at tickets and it seemed most had been sold as it allowed you to pick seats. Hairy buffalo is a decent bar. Up east 9th from the stadium there are 3-4 nice bars a few blocks from the stadium. Should be a fun game.
