Indiana upset: Wisconsin Wins!

Submitted by BlueBadger on

12 min left, Badgers up 8. Serious Big ten championship implications in this game, also a win that could help push the badgers off the bubble and into the tourney.

EDIT: Wisconsin wins 64-59. Big upset. as a (Blue)Badger, I'm pretty happy about it.

Wisconsin has owned Indiana. 10 straight including four at Assembly Hall so it is an upset but Wisconsin had confidence going into this game.

I do think this is good for us.

Carrot top coming through down the stretch on both ends of the court. No easy feat winning a game in Assembly, brutal brutal brutal conference this B1G is.

Crean also made Tubby Smith wait a bit before doing the handshake line after the IU/Minn game.  Tubby started to walk over but didn't see Crean, as the IU coach was squatted down on his sideline, I guess getting a few quick reps in.  You could see easily that Tubby was confused as he looked around back at his sideline, probably wondering, "Where the hell is this guy?"

Wow.  That is a murderous schedule.  8/10 games vs. ranked teams, and the other 2 against Iowa (a decent/bubble team).  It doesn't get any harder than that anywhere.

love for IU BBall on here.

As a fan that goes back to the early 70's, Indiana BBall is to Mich what ohio is to Mich in football. Do not like Hoosiers and neither should any of you....but I'm sure they are nice people, even tho they got a coach who is one weird cat!

One of the stats of the game had to be Indiana - rather uncharateristically - managing an overall FG% under 40% (37%, as I recall, in the final line). They've shot over 50% in five of their last six, the sole exception recently being their game against Iowa, when they sat around 40%

I hate watching Wisconsin.  A bunch of tall ugly guys with bad haircuts who look like they just got through milking cows.  Every point goes 34 seconds after more passes than I can count.

I hope we have one of our hot nights when we play them.  IU ended up playing Wiscy's game all evening and it cost them big.

...is not milking cows in the morning before practice.

You gotta give Bo Ryan tons of credit.   He "milks" everything from his players and grabs players that fit his offensive (and defensive) scheme so well.   Every year I think "this is the year the Badgers will suck".   Hell, they lost their starting PG and best defensive player in fall practice.   And they still have enough to crush Illinois and steal one from IU at Assembly Hall.   Consider me impressed.

If Indiana is indeed our main competition for the title, this is great news, but now it's starting to look like more of a free-for-all, and we have to consider Wisconsin a possible contender now.  They've beaten IU on the road and don't play us at Crisler.

Seems to me that Big Ten teams are going to be very battle tested come tournament time.  It sucks to pick up a loss right around now, but in the grand scheme of things what would you rather have:  a 1-2 loss season against an easy conference and then flop during tournament time, or a 4-5 loss season against stellar competition and a deep tournament run.

Of course, that's a gross simplification, but I don't think that any loss in the Big Ten is a particularly bad one (except maybe to Nebraska or PSU).
