Important Rich Rod Updates

Stop making constant dumb ass board topics multiple times a day for every 3 star commit Arizona gets, especially when Michigan isn't even interested.

Also I am well aware of the hypocrisy of creating a board topic complaining about other board topics. But at least this topic concerns material relevent to the MGoBoard, unlike Arizona Wildcat posts.

OT topics in off-season, and we hear about Woodson and Howard and other former players now in the NFL all the time, but without this backlash of hostility occasionally disguised as feigned disinterest.

RR is a part of the history of this school. Unfortunately, so is a concurrent history of covert factional hostility rising on occasion to the level of sabotage against our beloved program.

We won't rise above the dark side of this history by perpetuating the attitudes behind it, and we won't learn from it by trying to scrub our board of any reminder of it.

RR is a part of our history, as are Woodson or Howard. There are some folks here who pulled for him when he is here, and some who don't want him to be a forbidden topic in contrast to the other folks who have spent their time here and moved on.

Beating a path to put a beat-down on any board post about RR is just as much a form of obsession as posting about every U-AZ recruit is.

Lord knows AZ Desert Swarm could use the traffic (check out the comment numbers on the pages).  I think there is some more high traffic site though if you really care that much.

I don't get people's obsession with him. I'm a fan of the school, not the man; when a coach ceases to be our coach, he's just another guy I don't want to read about.

I won't post a thread on him, but I click on most. I graduated in 2009 and was very emotionally invested in Michigan's success, and therefore RichRod's success. I wanted him to succeed, but he didn't.

I dunno, I'd say it's kinda like an ex girlfriend. You're definitely broken up and not getting back together, but it's still a part of your history and you were emotionally invested. Whether or not you want updates on your ex... depends on how you feel about your ex.

Why do people hate the RR stuff so much? He is, and forever will be, a part of Michigan's grand history. Maybe not the best part, but a part of it none the less. People post shit about other past coaches and what they are currently doing all the time; no one seems to care. Just because RR did a crappy job at UM and was fired, we can't talk about his current going on's?

Well I actually agree with the point that him picking up a prospect we had no interest in isn't thread worthy (although in this case our rival MSU was actually persuing Griffey Jr, so it does become relevant). I was just using this topic as a time to address the bigger point. We don't only talk about Carr or other coaches when they attend charity events for UM. They're mentioned all the time everywhere and no one cares; it's encouraged actually. But RR can't do charity events for UM because he's not retired. But it inevitably seems that more than a few people will go out of their way to say how much they don't care whenever any update on RR is mentioned. Like even when it's a big thing like him getting Casteel. I just think if we're going to talk about past UM coaches, we should be able to talk about all of them.

Hearing charity work about Lloyd Carr or someone else is one thing.

Hearing about random 3 star commitments to Rich Rod is another thing entirely (the Griffey commit is not the first board post about 3 star commits to Rich Rod). Should we have 25 board posts a year about each individual commit RRod gets? Nothing against the guy, but holy shit, I just dont care.

If people are gonna post irrelevent threads about every generic 3star RRod signs I'm going to start posting irrelevent threads about the differences between the shape of my breakfasts when I eat them and when they end up in the toilet after my afternoon coffee.

The moderators were "hired" to moderate the Board.  If a thread about something irrelevant exists for longer then you think should, lean back and take a deep breath.  We all have day jobs.

That said, if you contribute to the deliquency you will be punished just as those are/will be that you complain about.  #Forewarned.

about posts discussing MSU as we seem to get at least one of those a day.

Comparitively, we may see 2-3 RR posts per week.  That's hardly some egregious overkill, as your rant would lead the lay person to believe.  Don't want to read about RR? Don't click on the fucking link.

Just to echo, important RR updates are fine. I don't think anybody complained when it was posted that he got a job at Arizona. However, we aren't going to get an update on every QB recruit that goes to Auburn now that Loeffler is their OC, nor any updates on EMU recruiting (though they have a former coach and a former player on staff). This is hardly the first Arizona recruiting post, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Michigan outside of RR.

No we cant. He coaches at AZ not Michigan. If you want to read stuff about him and what is going on with his team, then please visit the site the OP mentioned. Im interested in Brady Hoke and his recruits, because umm well he coaches Michigan, and this is a Michigan blog. RR is not coaching here, he had his 3 years, he failed, time to move on. I hope he wins at AZ, but I could give a fuck less about who commits there and how his recruiting class is. I especially dont want to see it posted on a MICHIGAN blog.
<br>End rant.

I think you missed the point... the fact that a famous athlete's son did not sign up to play basketball for Beilein is an important, and related, topic.

Hardaway Jr.

Horford Jr.

Big Dog Jr

Dumars Jr.

How did we miss out on Griffey Jr. Jr.?

Despite my phone's 4g speed I still find it hard to jump from webs to webs thus I enjoy reading all my rich rod news right here.

Also find rich posts far less annoying than the spartymania that goes on here of late.

The again let spartymania go on because my device has a novel feature where one isn't required to read threads one doesn't wish to read.

Here's to hoping to see AU liveblogs come next fall.

I don't mind getting updates about assistant coaches he's hired or the process of him getting settled at Arizona, but board topics about random recruits he's pursuing are unnecessary. It dosn't need to be all-or-nothing.

I'm failry new,  but I dont get it, can't you just not click on it if you don't like it.  RichRod was a coach who came into M and brought the worst 3 year period in M history, but in many ways we were "all in" for his system and his players so why would we not care about what he's doing?  I think it is very interesting to see what players (especially Griff's son) he pulls and how they may fit in his system since we just lived it.  If he has success at zona, why didnt it work here?  I don't see any reason this is not completely relevant to the board.

I think it is more indicative of being overly red assed and paranoid to not be able to look at the words RichRod on this board instead of just accepting that we've moved on and read about our EX-COACH one year removed.

If we start to obsess over his schemes or his stretching schedules, etc in Arizona, I get that, but he just got a high profile recruit so unbunch your panties fergodsakes.

Since you are new, you may not have realized yet that it's not very easy to get to page 2. Yes, it can be done, but I for one, and I'm sure many others, stick to the front page, for the most part. The reason it bothers me is a thread telling us about a 3 star recruit going to Arizona pushes another thread that I might be interested in off the front page.

Agreed (except of course about the worst 3 year period in our history). He is more relevant than 90% of the shut that gets put on the board in the offseason. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's fairly simple actually.

Whats more relevant, former coach or things going on with the colts? Can we get a complaint about the dozen non michigan sports related posts that go up daily, or do you prefer to be a hypocrite?
