the impact of the media and reasons to be cheerful

Let me state the following:

1.  Hoke is a good man and may be a good coach

2.  The media loves Hoke

3.  Brandon's handling of this was horrible for the number of reasons already outlined.

Since very few people on this board personally dislike Hoke (no rules violations or dodgy past) and he is at least an adequate, if not good coach, the media love alone might make this hire worth it.  Such rationale doesn't sit well with me but it may be a sad fact.  It was hard to see a negative thing on ESPN about hoke and I love how all of sudden the new offensive transition is being marginalized in a way unlike RRod.  Sadly, this seems like a political decision with a decent guy that might work well just because it is sadly a political decision.  Negative recruiting at Michigan might be harder now...we might pickup surprise recruits in this class?

The media loving the hire can go a long way. If Hoke does OK next year I wouldn't be surprised if we start stockpiling the big recruits like we used to. It's all about perception and recently the perception was that Michigan was on a downward spiral.
