Immortality

Submitted by gremlin on

So, after creating a board topic about Jim Joyce being a joke last night, I woke up and realized I just helped give this guy what he wanted:  Immortality.  That wasn't a close call last night.  That call should have been out 99.9% of the time.  It was not an innocent mistake.  Jim Joyce wanted to go down in the "record books".  Now no one will forget his name.

Negged.  I don't think you ever did anything but angrily bang away at your keyboard over this.  No reading or anything.  Certainly didn't read or hear the interviews.  I fully believe it when they say the one person more than anyone else who wishes this wouldn't have happened is Jim Joyce.

Jesus christ this is just ridiculous how you Tigers fans are going off about this. Ok yes he made a bad call IT HAPPENS. He's an official and calls the game as he sees it. He even admitted to the public that his call was horrible and he even sounded like he was going to have a break down during the conference give him a break. At least your pitcher took it with sportsmanship and said "nobody's perfect" and they aren't other wise we wouldn't need instant replay if officials were perfect! You won the game 3-0 in shut out that alone in baseball is already hard to do. You won the game, you beat my team and Cleveland sucks no matter what. God how anybody could care this much about a baseball game is beyond me. I'm an Indians fan and if this happened to my team I still could give a shit less. Baseball is the 3rd most BORING AS HELL game to watch next to cricket and golf.

You know, I never really neg, and I think sometimes you're unfairly provoked/ridiculed.  But, let's break down the structure of your post:

You make a few great points (e.g. There's no need for 5 threads on this topic, Galarraga showed outstanding sportsmanship, winning 3-0 is still tough to do in the Majors.)

However, while I (and many) will agree, you distract us and don't win us over by attacking Tiger/baseball fans (e.g. 'You tiger fans...' 'Who cares, it's baseball and baseball is boring')

Don't argue using opinions, don't complain about topics.  You don't have to read the thread if you don't like it.

Tiger fans aren't the only ones upset about this. Anyone that is a fan of baseball is upset with that call. Pretty much everything in the world of sports is being overshadowed by this today. Even your supposedly beloved Indians were shocked by the call. Not to mention, that pretty much negated Austin Jackson's awesome catch that kept the streak going.

God how anybody could care this much about a baseball game is beyond me.

Everybody that watched that game, either at home or in person was robbed at being a part of history, and most importanly Galarraga himself was robbed at being in the record books. Sorry if we Tiger fans are passionate about one our players getting robbed of such a feat. No scratch that, we don't owe anybody an explanation for that, especially you.

I'm an Indians fan and if this happened to my team I still could give a shit less.

Obviously you're not the Indians fan you claim to be if that happend to one of their pitchers and you could give a shit less.

Baseball is the 3rd most BORING AS HELL game to watch next to cricket and golf.

Then why are you even commenting on this, and most of all, how in the hell can you call yourself a fan of a team that plays a sport you call boring. Let me guess, you're also a Woods or Mickelson fan, yet you also called golf boring.

And possibly the epic failure of this post

Jesus christ

Really?! I'm not a grammar nazi, nor am I a holy roller but you failed to capitalize the C in Christ. Your religious beliefs or lack thereof is entirely your perogative, but at least show some respect.

Anyone who knows anything about umpiring or refereeing knows that those guys don't want immortality.  Good umpires are anonymous.  If you're remembered as an umpire, it's probably because you screwed up.  Jim Joyce is known within the league as a solid umpire who will now be remembered forever for blowing Galarraga's perfect game.  I'm sure he's dying a little inside today.

The OP's premise is a bit ridiculous.

Terracotta armies and mercury pill consumption a la the first emperor of China!  I didn't think others on this board were really into early Chinese history and I can't find a blog about it so I was really excited.  I was sadly mistaken however.

How could you care so much about M football?

People were watching something that has only happend 20 times in the past 110 years (oddly twice in the past month). It's the hardest single game achievement in all of sport, and if you can't appreciate that, how are you even a fan in general?

Your statement is one of the more sad utterances I've seen you make on this site.

I think the OP has some very intriguing ideas, however I think gremlin needs to quickly put the tin foil hat on his head before our Alien overlords steal any of his other genius thoughts.
