Illinois shooting fairly well to start, up 10. I suspect they will cool off and state ends up winning. Msu really is a mercurial team- look so different from their game at Indiana.

7 fouls on Illinois and 6 on MSU, so I assume I'm just going to hear MSU fans whine about the refs and how they never get any home court advantage.

Nice, 10 point lead at the half.

I can't decide if Illinois is just unlucky with their recent terrible shooting or if it is their own fault for taking lousy looks.  Probably both. The numbers look like just a cold streak but when you watch them it is like they take the first open perimeter shot they see on every possession.

Appling sure takes a lot of shots for a guy with a 46.6 eFG%. Got to be frustrating to the Sparty fans to see him take shots that should be going to Harris or Payne.

Right now, in addition to the 37-27 Illinois lead, the Spartans are also losing the battle of  FG% - about 42% to 48% at the moment actually. In addition, the Spartans actually have the edge on  rebounding (17  to 13) as well turnovers (9 by the Spartans, 1 by Illinois - no,  I don't know anyone that wants to have more turnovers  than the other guy), as the broadcast mentioned.

About one-third of the scoring in this game has actually been on three-pointers, led by Richardson for Illinois and Harris for Michigan. Beyond this, with the sole exception of Brandon Paul, no one has scored more than five points.

Illinois offense looks very discombobulated at points. Kinda reminds me of Michigan during the Amaker era. Where there is a lot of individual talent but trip over their own feet and they are having trouble with every pass. Part of that should be credited to sparty's defense.
