If Wilkins is slotted for the DeathRoh position, who replaces BG?
Obviously no freshman on the planet could replace BG (if he could, clone him), but I thought the consensus was that Wilkins would grown into that spot. His latest comments mention Tall putting him behind DeathRoh Records. This moves RVB(?) over with Lalota(?) plus Heininger since Patterson should be done? Maybe we are still waiting on the player to be named later (Big Tex), I didn't think Talbot would move out.

for Roh to get Barwisized and move to BGs spot. Remember that he didn't get here until the summer and can easily put on 20 pounds.

Does anyone else know why he isnt playing much defense in high school? I read something recently that said he has been playing tight end and hardly any defense.

you put your best athletes where you need them. Same reason why Courtney Avery is playing Quarterback.

Lalota

I'm convinced the Dline next year will
RVB in Graham's spot, Campbell at nose, Martin in RVB 's spot and Roh in the same spot. We get stronger at the point of attack so we don't have to sell out on the run as much and Roh and RVB will provide good pressure off the edge.
RR has said they don't want to bulk up Roh and slow him down. If WC progresses it would be silly to leave a stud on the bench so we could put Henniger or Lalota on the field. Either way I expect this d line to be pretty solid next year, it's a shame we couldn't have Graham for 1 more year.

it might be in our best interest to move to a true 3-4. across the DL it'd be
MM-WC-RVB
Roh-OE-JM-Mike Jones
DW/JT TW/JT
M-ROB
VLAD
i read a post from someone that outlined the defense like that and it made a lot of sense to me. what do you think?
October 29th, 2009 at 7:26 PM ^
makes sense to me. I still wonder where M-Rob will end up though. Some say safety, some say OLB. Let's hope we get a blue chip safety or two to compliment M Rob.
I also wonder how much of Mike Williams troubles are because he's a RS freshman, or if he just sucks. Maybe he'll do better next year. We can only hope.

Mike Williams is a RS sophmore. He played some last year.

My point is still valid, he's a very inexperienced player, and we should all hope he improves over the off season so we have a few serviceable options at safety

Here's how I see the defense next year:
DE - Van Bergen
NT - Martin
DT - Sagesse
OLB - Roh
WILL - Mouton
MIKE - Ezeh
SAM - I don't know
CB - Turner
CB - Warren (hopefully)
FS - Williams
SS - Woolfolk
Roh is a natural fit at Quick. He could be a great DE, too, but he's doing a pretty awesome job where he is.

I don't think it's in Michigan's interest to move to a "true 3-4." A 3-4 or 50 defense is much different than what we have now, which is basically a 4-3 with one end who can drop into coverage on rare occasions.
First of all, Greg Robinson has never run a 50 defense.
Secondly, run fits and coverages are different in a 50 than they are in the current defense, meaning we'd be back to square one and teaching Ezeh and Mouton (not to mention everyone else) their fourth defensive scheme in the last four years.

in fact i'd venture to say you are right. maybe they run more sets out that sort of look though? idk

DE - Martin
NT - Sagesse
DT - Van Bergen
OLB - Roh
WILL - Mouton
MIKE - Ezeh
SAM - Mike Jones (M.Robinson prob backs him up to start the season)
CB - Turner
CB - Woolfolk (unless we get a viable true freshman)
FS - Kovacs
SS - ??? maybe Vlad Emilien (Woolfolk)
October 29th, 2009 at 9:59 PM ^
Martin isn't going to play DE.
October 29th, 2009 at 10:48 PM ^
DE - Van Bergen. (does G.Banks graduate?)
NT - Will
DT - Martin
OLB - Roh
WILL - Mouton
MIKE - Ezeh
SAM - Jones/Bell/M.Rob/Kovacs?/B.Smith/whoever the hell else lol.
CB - Turner
CB - Warren (please)
FS - Williams
SS - woolfolk
What do you think about moving Obi to B.G's spot? I'm sure he can put weight on easy, and he'll be a lot quicker than most o lineman. Although it would leave a void in the mlb spot..

i would love to not hafta watch him in pass coverage. i just dont know who could possible play mlb. fitzgerald hasnt shown he can be an every down guy, and we havent really gotten any bluechip lb recruits in the 2010 class.
i dont think big will has a shot at cracking the starting lineup next season. id predict sagesse or banks as the final dline spot.
and i would be shocked if d.warren comes back for a senior season. i cant think of anything that would stop him from going to the nfl.
id like to be able to have woolfolk at ss and kovacs at fs, but i dont think thats going to happen. that would require turner and prob a true freshman (or JT Floyd who in my mind is better fit for safety) to develop into viable starters.
sadly this would leave us completely hopeless at fs yet again. if we dont get a tru freshman recruit who can come in and start, its going to be either kovacs, mike williams, or vlad emilien (who has next to no experience)
