If Ufer got to call Saturday's ending

Linked by our friends over at MVictors.  If only the technical what have you's existed to have a spot on replica of Ufer's voice saying "Roundtree" instead of "Wangler" (perhaps it does, anyone here work on the Dick Cavett scenes in Forest Gump? no? ok).

Agreed

Unless, of course, his head would have simply exploded. It's likely a coin toss.

Tremendous!

I didn't think it was possible to get any more joy out of this victory than we have already gotten, but you, sir, have done it!  Tremendous!

God bless Ufer.  I don't think he would have survived the Roundtree catch.

We would have heard the horn a couple times before he passed out.

Lived History Twice

Was there for Wangler to AC as a student and saw the UTL game 32 years later. Wonder if Lee Corso stuck around to catch the game as he was there for the AC catch in 1979.

Lee was there at the start

Lee literally was arms length from me on a golf cart right before the start of the game going by the student entrance to the stadium.

I was there

Probably the ONLY time the Indiana game was exciting. Ernie Harwell. George Kell. Bob Ufer. We were so spoiled.

This was great, but the '69 OSU game (also on a sad anniversary date) was better Ufer. And a better game. But that's just old geezer me.

Agreed. State of Michigan

Agreed. State of Michigan sports fans have been spoiled when it comes to radio. Ufer, Kell, Harwell. Those are some greats. Blaha for MSU and the Pistons isn't bad, I think Dan Dickerson is pretty good, Jim Price is adequate, Brandy and Beckmann do a decent job. Ken Kal and Paul Woods for Red Wings do a fine job as well. TV commentators are ok, but you don't have to be that good because the fans can watch the action. Radio broadcasts are still great, it's too bad fewer and fewer people listen in, but you can't blame them either.

Maybe we should have a madeup play-by-play contest?  With Ufer and Keith Jackson divisions?

Man I didn't notice that the ball kind of popped out on Roundtree when he hit the ground.  Not saying it wasn't a catch- but damn he had to really fight it.

I've often thought this

I've often thought this during alot of our comeback wins or close games. Biggest Michigan homer to ever live but you gotta love him. Called the games with his heart on his sleeve and battled the ups and downs like a regular fan. May he RIP

As it stands

Frank made a great call at the end. His voiced oozed with emotion. TOUCHDOWN!! MIIIIIIIIIICHIGAN.

Also, I just imagined Ufer saying "Brady Hoke is looking up at football's bahala (Sp?) and saying, 'Thank you Bo Schembechler, thank you Bo for that one!'"

Thanks

I actually tried to google it, but starting my spelling with a "b" obviously never turned up the result. I have had very little exposure to that word. This is actually the first time I've seen it in writing.

Ufer would never had done

Ufer would never had done this game.  He would have exploded during Braylon Fest in '04.

I have a clear memory of being a kid in a car with my dad.  Ufer was on the radio.  Michigan had the ball.  All of a sudden, Ufer was screamnig and all you could hear was the horn honking.  I asked my dad what happened.  He said words to the effect of:  "Michigan scored a touchdown.  Wait until he calms down and he'll tell us what happened."

Those were the days my friends, those were the days.

EDIT - just wathced the clip.  It kicks ass.

we need a Ufer-thon

that was SO great to hear.   Ufer was a classic, but nobody dares have that kind of emotion anymore.

please sir(s), can I have some more?

Brought a tear to my eye as I

Brought a tear to my eye as I remember listening to that homecoming game on the radio with my dad as he jumped around the room yelling when Ufer made the call.  The three of us boys were doing the same.

My kids experienced the same euphoria with me on Saturday night!

The video brought together two of my favorite Michigan moments.  Thanks.
