I received a signed Michigan flag
So I received a signed Michigan flag (mini flag) as a gift. I got it from someone who works at Addidas, it ended up in his office, he knows Im a freak about Michigan so he sent it my way...which I was pumped about.
Good news is that its signed by Red and JB, bad news (I guess) that its also signed by Hoke. Which as we all know was a rough era (minus 1 year).
I love repping Michigan gear in the office so my question to the board, if you owned this mini flag would you proudly display it in your office/cube even though that Hoke signature is on there...or do you just put it in your man cave at home?
FYI, I put the flag up and two people commented on the Hoke signature within 5 days... in a bad way...lol.
Hail!
Display it proudly. It may have been a dark era, but the JB and Red signatures more than make up for it.
Also, let's not forget that Hoke is still a Michigan Man. He may not have achieved success as a head coach, but he's not a pariah like RichRod. He's a good man who was in over his head.
RichRod also struck me as a good man who was a bad fit (and maybe also in a bit over his head). He's a pariah mostly because a segment of the "Michigan Man" faction decided he was a pariah on day one.
I'm with you, though. Display it proudly. Now if it had a Dave "Brandin'" Brandon signature on it, I'd need to think that over more closely!
I'm not sure that even bears thinking about
But Brandon was different. Also, such a dick that he probably would not deign to sign something for one of the little people. Probably could not hold my nose to display DB memorabilia.
Thanks all...thats why this is the best blog in all the lands.
Flag displayed proudly
That's an easy question. Brady Hoke wasn't a successful head coach, but that doesn't make him a bad person, not at all. Absolutely display that with pride.
When people walk by and ask who signed it, point to the Hoke signature and say "Pretty recognizable signature there - Randy Jackson from American Idol."
100% display it. That's a cool piece.
The signatures are cool, but the colors are more important.
Show it proudly.
If you had offered me the flag, I would have walked to your office to pick it up.
and display it proudly!
I'd proudly display a Michigan flag signed by Rich Rod and Ellerbe.
OTOH, Ive been debating an office display of a framed Dinosaur Jr concert poster signed by J Macsis that features a cartoon clown doll holding a steak knife. Decisions.
Gotta be in for the good and the bad. Hoke was a bad coach, but not a bad guy. And that first season was pretty fun.
Fuck yes I would. I still display a signed helmet in my apartment that was signed by RichRod. Granted, it was signed by Denard as well, but Michigan is Michigan.
Hoke was a bad coach, but he was not a bad man by any stretch of the imagination. I'd display it proudly.
I have a signed Hoke Helmet in my office (home office). I purchased it when he signed on...I had very high hopes and thought he just might pull us out of the gutter.
I will keep it and alwasy display it. It's part of our history.
Take attention away from the Hoke signature.
GO BLUE!!
I'll take it if you don't want!
Any collectors out there? I'm just starting a collection of signed baseballs and was wondering where you all look to buy yours. I've made sure they have a PSA with them, and one was authenticated by MLB.
What else do you look for? Anything to avoid?

After the Eli Manning allegations, I'd be hesistant to say anything is signed by anyone, unless I physically saw it with my own two eyes. I don't care if it comes with a "certificate of authentication" as those can be faked, too.

Hoke was not a greast coach, but he loved Michigan. He recruited all those guys about to get drafted, and a bunch of dudes still on the team. I would be proud no doubt to display that.

Brady Hoke is a good man and loves Michigan. I loved his no-nonsense attitude and he'd bench players if they fucked up, even if they were starters and it was a big game (Alabama). He taught these young kids that later in life they will have to be held accountable for their actions. I wish more coaches would do that, instead of benching them for 1 quarter. Hell of a recruiter. Just not the right man for the job.
