I thought the exact same thing. If I didn't know better, I'd almost swear that was RR. The tall farmer's style hat and those sunglasses give Bo away. I miss him as well. And I agree that everything seems to have fallen apart since he died. I faith in this staff. I hve faith in RichRod. I want to see him succeed and I think he is a man of good character. I'm not 100% sure he has the best judgement, or handles the media well, but one thing he has that Bo had, he will NEVER back down from a fight. The things that have happened here since he took over seem to be a string of coincidental nightmares. I don't know what the Regnts met about and I don't what will happen with Dorsey. But I can tell you this, if Dorsey and the other hunches that RR is playing in this class pan out, Rodriguez will be viewed as the one who brought Michigan back from the ashes. If these hunches go bad, the University will not hesitate. There is an awful lot at stake for all concerned, but I believe RR is a good judge of character(Pacman and Chris Henry made their own beds) and I, for one am not going to let Sharp, Snyder and Rosendouche decide for me what kind of coach Michigan has on the sidelines. GO BLUE!

The day Bo died Michigan was 11-0 and headed for the National Title. Since Bo died: We lost the Game of the Century, subsequently lost the Rose Bowl, lost Nike's sponsorship (Nike curse? more likely the Bo curse), lost to App St in The Horror, got absolutely embarrassed by the Oregon Ducks at home, had a horrible coaching transition period that even resulted in a player defected to tOSU, had a 3-9 season which included a loss to Toledo, followed by a 5-7 season and a NCAA investigation. Sigh. On the bright side: We beat Miami, Ohio 16-6 at home and we got to see Tim Tebow OMG shirtless.

I met Bo once. I'd gone down to the IM Building to register a team, but gotten off at the wrong stop and dumb freshman rear was lost. So I'm standing there, trying to figure out where I am and this older guy with a ball cap comes up. He was pretty nice, not a lot of that gruff exterior you hear about in the legend. Likely saved that for the field. He did ask me if I was going to make sure my team won the league though. I have a feeling he'd kick all our asses for sitting around and missing him.

Walter Smith tells a story about how he was going to commit to the Vols until he met Bo. He said that Bo walked up to him and told him that he was going to play for Michigan because he was a Michigan man. And that was all Walter needed to hear. He said, and I quote, "If Bo is calling me a Michigan man, then damn it, I must be a Michigan man." That is the kinda impact Bo had. He was the face, voice and breath of our program. We all miss him.

People don't realize just how much Bo kept things under control behind the scenes. Just having his office in Schembechler Hall and being pretty much everywhere all the time put out a lot of fires as soon as they were even thinking about blazing up. Story time: About a year before he died, my parents were helping run some scholarship thing for an Alumni Association group. They had some things for Bo to sign for a silent auction, and left them with Bo's secretary. I guess Bo was in and out of town a lot at the time, but he signed the stuff and left it on his desk. My parents got a call to come up to Schembechler Hall to pick it up, so they go. It's later in the afternoon sometime in the winter, after signing day, not too much going on. Mary (Bo's secretary) turns on the lights in the office, and asks my parents to come in to make sure they got everything. All of the sudden they hear a knock at the door, and in walks Lloyd Carr. He saw Bo's light on down the hall, thought Bo was back in town, and came down to talk. He was really nice and stayed to chat a little bit, which he didn't have to do, but he did it anyway. Anyways, after hearing that story, when I think about everything that happened after Bo died, it made sense. The 2007 football season, the 06 OSU game, the Rose Bowl, Lloyd needed Bo more than he realized. Everyone needed Bo more than they realized. I really think it hit Lloyd a lot harder than people would have thought. I also think about the coaching search, the fiasco, Michigan's administration running around with their heads cut off throwing the job at whatever coach they could think of until we walked ass-backwards into Rich Rodriguez. If you think all of the general mayhem that went down would have still happened if Bo was behind the scenes, even if he was just sitting in his office with the door closed and the phone disconnected, you would be delusional. Bo was the heart and soul of our athletic department. I miss him a great deal, and having had many chances to be around him throughout my life, I know how special a person he was. The moment I turned on my TV that Friday in November to see a special report that he had died, it was like losing a family member. And I know a lot of us felt the same way. I just wish he had been able to be around just a little bit longer.

Bo used to say..you don't chose Michigan, Michigan choses you. Loyd used that line a few times as well. I can't help thinking if Loyd had what Bo had, the bitches at the Freep would have been put in check 2 years ago. The crap with Harbaugh would have never happened, lots of things would be different. I remember how it hurt when we lost Bo. Losing the next 4 football games made me feel like we would never win again without him.

We have been rudderless without him. I am hoping David Brandon comes in and add some of the field general leadership back in. Starts telling people how to behave and get in line or get out.

Rich Rod is our coach and he is going to get Michigan back. I think the past few years of losing and losing to teams we shouldn't is going to end very soon. I think the day when we beat TOSU and go to a BCS game and wrecked a national power we will all look back at this time and say it was worth it. The most important part of this is that we all stick by Michigan and support them. I know everyday I get busted on for being a fan of Michigan, but I know I'm going to get the last laugh when we start shutting people up very soon.It is also nice to know that there is a ton of people out there like me who love our school and I can't wait to celebrate with all of you!

Just remind them that the University of Chicago still has won more Big Ten football championships than MSU despite not being in the conference since 1939. The only schools with longer droughts since their last Big Ten championship are Indiana and Minnesota and the only schools with fewer championships are IU and PSU (joined in 1993). Then of course, there is the education aspect.

that this blog would not be in existence and we would not be typing our little responses to posts on Mgoboard were it not for Bo. The direct and indirect influence he has had on everyone who loves Michigan is not measureable.

In 2025, RR will have made his mark and will become an old patriarch to UM. Mike Hart will be the fiery new HC. They will use some money to invest in afterlife technology. And when we have the technology, Bo will be resurrected and assemble a staff of wolverine terminators to rule the NCAA for decades...and yes, we will once again use a fullback.

Stop wasting your time writing about me. You are all fat and slow like Dierdorf and need to get back to work before I find my yardstick and run you through the 69' team drills and make you mine.

Definitely miss Bo, definitely don't miss running three straight times and punting down two possessions late in the fourth quarter. Not only was it about winning, it was about winning on Bo's terms. I can't imagine how he would be eviscerated for that play calling in today's world. Lloyd ran a wide open offense by contrast and was still questionably conservative at times, but if he had done that....
