I may be a fan of Tim Brewster
He actually comes out defending Coach Rod...did not expect any coaches to come out on the record like this:
http://www.annarbor.com/sports/minnesota-coach-tim-brewster-defends-mic…
Relevant quote:
"I firmly believe in Rich Rodriguez," Brewster said. "I don't believe that Michigan was overextending their players. It's unfortunate that this publicity has come out.
"Rich Rodriguez is a heck of a football coach. He's been doing this a long time and it's just very unfortunate."

As a Gopher alum, I'm proud. As a devout Michigan fan, I'm happy to see it.

Herbstriet is also defending Rich on sportscenter right now.

circle the wagons whatever you want to call it. But they've put the wolverine in the corner and last time I checked wolverines aren't pussies.
September 1st, 2009 at 2:49 PM ^
I completely agree.

I must also congratulate you for circling the wagons after your trials and tribulations on the Board here a month or so ago. Well done, you've got a nice stack of points now.
Here's one more - +1.

me. So I offer this to you MGoBlog faithful. If I can do it you have to know that RR can.
(This post was obviously dripping with some sarcasm at the beginning but seriously if I can be positive points then RR can put this shit behind him)

If the "us against the world" mentality didn't exist on this team after a 3-9 season, it sure does now. This is all a bunch of BS now, but we could look back on this in a few years as the defining moment in Rodriguez's tenure at Michigan. Hopefully a good defining moment . . .

Halt the gopher jokes.
September 1st, 2009 at 2:47 PM ^
So we see Brewster, Carson Butler, Herbstriet, and many others defending Rich and the program?
September 1st, 2009 at 2:53 PM ^
Now there's 3 people you wouldn't expect to agree on anything.
September 1st, 2009 at 2:53 PM ^
I don't know that Herbie is really defending us. He just kind likes to go against the grain. And this time it's falling in our favor, just a bit.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:57 PM ^
Tim Brewster, Carson Butler and Kirk Herbstriet walk into a bar...
September 1st, 2009 at 2:45 PM ^
Now that's showing class. So what if they took our jug, all is forgiven. On the other hand, I can just see Dantonio working his tiny brain extra hard to come up with an RR joke for his presser.

You do remember we beat Minnesota last year...
September 1st, 2009 at 3:52 PM ^
I believe he's referring to when they originally stole it, which started the tradition.
September 1st, 2009 at 2:46 PM ^
I'm...so...torn

I may be a fan of Punky Brewster.

Fucking Geauxphers? OMG SO CONFUSED!
September 1st, 2009 at 2:50 PM ^
who sits in the corner at Christmas and makes himself laugh at remembering scenes from Weekend at Bernie's 2. Mostly harmless, funnier when he tries to take himself seriously, only a threat when he gets behind the wheel after a party.

too bad his wife isn't as hot as glenn mason's.

YOUR SUPPORT means a lot to our PROGRAM! We APPRECIATE your COMMITMENT to our HARD WORK! In order for FOOTBALL to be played at the HIGHEST LEVELS, this type of TRAINING is NECESSARY!
September 1st, 2009 at 3:01 PM ^
to root for Minnesota next year. I hope other coaches come out in defense of RR (yeah, I know, it's unlikely).
September 1st, 2009 at 3:04 PM ^
and I will actually have a rooting interest in the game. I'll come back with pictures and stuff too and a reaction so stay tuned (for like 3 months) for this in-depth report!
September 1st, 2009 at 3:08 PM ^
I am really happy to see people who care about football identify this as an injustice and rally to help those who are being persecuted for the good of their sport. Way to go Coach Brewster.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:13 PM ^
they will lock us up and throw away the keys!"......
September 1st, 2009 at 4:58 PM ^
Gophers! You know, furry little rodents.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:20 PM ^
A geauxfur said that? I...I don't understand. I mean, they stole our jug. They plot and scheme to get it back. And now the General of the Geauxfur army says this? Was The Shredder's latest masterpiece so realistic that it actually did tear a hole in the space-time continuum and I've been sucked into a parallel dimension?
This is too much. Everything is topsy-turvy. I need to rethink my priorities. And have a drink.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:35 PM ^
that this is part of the plot to get our jug back...Brew$ter still cannot be trusted. F'ing Geauxphers.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:30 PM ^
It's funny before reading this post I was thinking about how much I wanted Minn to beat Cal; now I will be rooting for them to win every game simply b/c of the class Brewster has expressed. I wonder if tonio and tress did the same would I feel the same way?...Nah probably not...I hate those programs too much.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:30 PM ^
Thank you Coach Brewster! We need more D-1 coaches supporting Coach Rod. This will all die quickly if more coaches speak out.
