I have two fears

Submitted by bluesouth on

1.  Rich Rod is fired and brings his team back to AA and waxes Michigans ass.

2. Michigans quest to hurry up and right it's ship ends up being a protracted version of the past two years.

not my wish or an opinion just I fear more than anything.  sorry gotta run Notre Dame just called

and get his ass kicked like MSU, OSU, Mississipi State, and Penn State have done to Michigan.

Got to be honest, these type of posts are incredibly irritating. I know you guys are in the thrall of the spread, but a well prepared team can slow down the spread. Bama showed this vs UF as did Cal vs Oregon. This offense is not unstoppable--no offense is.

I totally disagree with you mr sal quattro.. I would've put coach rods wvu teams against any michigan team from the last 10 years.. I really doubt any mich st team would've beat any of his wvu teams and I really would've like to see them played ohio state with some of those teams he had at wvu... If i remember right I'm pretty sure rrod spanked mississippi st twice in his coaching career.. I know you hate the man sal but please dont try to make it like he's the worst coach ever... I dont think anyone including coach rod himself would've thought the defensive talent at michigan would ever be worst than he had at wvu.. I know I'm one person who is surprised at the lack of defensive talent at michigan. I know his recruiting on the defensive side of the ball is to blame for some of the shitty defense but coach carr has some of the blame too if you want to be fair.

He knew the defense was bad. He interfered with his dc and forced his friends on his dc and forced his scheme on his dc. He also didn't recruit vert well on the defensive side in order to get all his offensive players.

I believe his inflexibility has done him in. Both in offensive systems and in terms of his defensive hires. Being faithful to friends is great, but it just cost them all their jobs, it would appear, because he let his friendship overrule his common sense.
His defense in year 3 is not some circumstance he was forced into. Its something he helped to create

defense for keeping him.  There is no fan anywhere that has that type of "pull".  No Alumni , no trusted inner circle according to DB.  It's my fear not an opinion that pretty much makes it a personal thing that I shared here.  Delusional I may be but my thoughts are surely not moronic

I was a bit harsh, but your fear is applicable to a great multitude of teams considering that UM has lost to Appy State and Toledo. As those games show, any team can get their ass kicked by any team on any day.

It is just as likely--if not moreso--that UM will napalm his team. Just look at the historical record. The odds are in Michigan's favor.

needs to get HIS guy, and set him up for success.  I honestly don't give a rip who the next coach is, as long as he steps in and wins the right way and sets our program back up for long-term success with the correct assistant hires.

If it's Harbaugh, fine.  If it's someone else not on the radar, I'd be surprised but equally supportive.

My personal preference would be Harbaugh and a couple of his trusted assistants, and a healthy mix of younger, dynamic assistants from other programs, possibly a retain or two from the current staff (Jackson and maybe Tall), and a couple familiar names from the Michigan family who've gone elsewhere.

Think stability.

that we would scheudule a Rodriguez coached team, assuming he doesn't join a team in the current or future Big Ten would have a limit approaching 0%.

Meeting them in a Bowl game is more probable, but it can't be worse than losing by 38.

2.  Bears!!

look at it this way:

had you asked me what my greatest fears were in 2007, i would have said:

back to back losing seasons

getting humiliated by a MAC team at home

losing superiority over msu

becoming uncompetitive with osu

major ncaa violations for football

michigan as the new doormat for the big ten

i explained to my wife that years ago i would have been distraught over getting destroyed in a bowl game like we did yesterday, but im becoming numb to it all.  frankly, after the last three years, i fear nothing.

My fiance thinks Michigan is a ok team. She told me at the Uconn game this year. I can't believe how big your stadium is for a 5 win team.....

I freaked out when we use to lose by 3 points or when Ohio st beat us by 7. Now we lose by 38 and I'm like well we got 1 stop on D today.

Whoever the coach is fix this please!

1. Losing to 1aa team
2. Not beating Ohio St in a decade
3. Having Michigan St and Penn St fans tell me their school owns mine in football.

Well atleast number 2 hasn't happened yet.

Anybody have a list of coaches who were canned at destination college jobs, and then took another team to the mountaintop? I'm not talking some guy who failed in the pros, and came back, or lost his job at division III or something, and still went on to be a good coach...but someone who coached Florida...ND...Texas....USC...etc, was FIRED, and then got another shot somewhere else, and kicked ass and took names? Because I'm guessing it's a pretty short list. Even guys who leave of their own violation rarely do it (Saban). Far more often is Holtz or Spurrier, guys who never really match what they did before. And these are the successful guys.

<br>I guess I'm saying, it could happen, but that's not my biggest worry for Michigan Football right now.

I'd pay to watch that game.  It'd be fun to see the brilliant defensive counter-punches RR would cook up to try to stop Denard.

Oh, wait...

Actually happened to me, beleive it or not. Walking into the elevator with a big bag of groceries i dropped my keys.

Of course they fell into the gap between the door and the lift without any key touching either side. Amazing, like NASA programmed the trajectory, I tell you what.  Then I had to wait like 3 hours in the lobby fo the maintenance guy to get the keys.

...a cell phone down an elevator shaft. It was recovered by the building maintenance folks and miraculously, despite dropping 10 flights, after I put the pieces together, it worked.

Getting blown out by Miss State Bulldogs by 38 points in a bowl game. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen in my lifetime.

Shit it happened. Has it hit anyone yet that we lost to Miss St? I know they are ranked but holy shit we lost to Miss St.
