I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED about the future of this program!!!

Submitted by k06em01 on
Rich Rod is one of the top five coaches in the country. His offense...with a bunch of veterans that don't fit the system, and a true freshman at quarterback...was the #1 scoring offense in the big10. The talent level is rising quickly on the defense. We're going to finish very strong in recruiting. We're going to be winning national championships before you know it. Everyone is hating on us right now. The bandwagoners have all jumped off. Get ready for the turn around baby. Go back and watch that WVU/Oklahoma bowl game. Rich Rod's team of veteran two and three stars was d-o-m-i-n-a-n-t dominant. Imagine what he's going to be able to do with all of these four stars in the future. The wheels are in motion and I couldn't be more excited. There isn't another coach in the nation that I would rather have.

I think the majority of posters on this board agree with you to a certain extent. Coach Rod needs enough time to completely implement his system. EDIT: or they don't agree

Look, I support RR, want him back, and am clinging to past performance as an indicator of future results. But I can't fathom anyone so positive and actually EXCITED. More power to you, and may all your statements come true.

Wow- I love the excitement. It is like you have morphed from the WVU/Oklahoma game to present day, and now you have alot to talk about. Yeah, like I have been saying since day one, wait till RR gets his hands on 4 star talent. Look what he did with all 2 and 3 star at WVU! These are the kind of off season posts I have come to love on this site. Extremely optimistic and powerful. Keep them coming- Go Blue!

I just read this on rivals - in this specific quote he is responding to a question regarding our progress at 5-7 from 3-9: "The standards at Michigan are different. Five wins is not enough, especially when you only win one Big Ten game. I know where this team was a year ago. I know they were 3-9, but in my opinion, they didn't make nearly as much progress this year as we expected." "There were a few positives, but tell me what tangible goal they accomplished? They didn't have a winning record, they're not going to a bowl game, they obviously didn't compete for the Big Ten title - they weren't even in the hunt when November started - and they lost to their rivals Michigan State and Ohio State. Tell me what part of that you're satisfied with?" I agree that we need to be patient and that RR deserves more time - RR needs to get his players, we need to have a roster of upperclassmen, and use all of our scholarships but 8-16 is pathetic. This system with underclassmen, slow lineman and a true freshman at quarterback should still be AT LEAST a middle of the pack Big Ten team.

It has been well documented that if Mich does not go at least 6-6 next year, it will be RR's last. If RichRod doesn't get to 6-6 next year, I'd have no problem with him being fired, but where it is "well-documented" that he will in fact be fired if that's the case? I'm not sure it's been "documented" at all. MSC's quote that three years isn't enough time in which to judge a coach seems to indicate the exact opposite.

...to listen to RON SIMPKINS take on the direction of the University of Michigan football? QUOTE: "This system with underclassmen, slow lineman and a true freshman at quarterback should still be AT LEAST a middle of the pack Big Ten team." Read that three times, stop and then read it again. Maybe then you will understand what you just typed. I think Brian all year has stated why we were not a good football team. What's even more laughable is that your "reasoning" for being "AT LEAST a middle of the pack Big Ten team" actually better underscores why we had the season we did.

Just wondering, were you a Michigan athlete? No, you were not. It is understandable that you cannot comprehend what it means to be a Michigan athlete and therefore why you think we would have to go through a rebuilding process under RR. You should go to Schembechler Hall and talk to some of the upperclassmen who were not recruited for Rodriguez's system - tell them to their face that they are the reason that we went 1-7 in the conference and 5-7 overall - because they are not good enough athletes to block the guy lined up across from them. Tell them they don't have what it takes. Oh and don't forget to tell them its okay, because 6-18 is respectable for a Michigan team when the players don't fit the system and we are in a "rebuilding process"

if you want i'll tell them! and i think most of them will partly agree. their love of mich. brought them here and kept them here, but most of the old guard are not suited for the "rebuilding process" the spread needs more mobile smarter lineman than what was usually recruited here. we know and they know it. does that mean they didn't work their ass off and bleed blue when they got cut? hell no! but that also doesn't mean they were the best suited and prepared for this offense.

Whats not to be excited about? We have our head coach returning, another year in the system for our young QB's and another year of being Barwisized. So yeah we all should be excited for next year. Right now though it is basketball season and our hoops team looks EXTREMELY talented. Lets GO BLUE!

but I actually agree with you! We know that players, recruits, player's parents, and others read this board. We should keep a thread like this stickied at the top of the forum (at least until signing day)to put the MGOCommunity in the best light possible. P.S. - I like your tagline ( I agree with that too).

I think RB play will be much improved next year. I was a big fan of Minor and Brown, but I don't really think they fit RR's system. The system requires a RB who is a little quicker, as well as a shifty player who can be utilized more in the passing game. As we saw towards the end of the season, Vincent Smith is more of the prototypical RR RB. It was obvious that the 09 Michigan offense used only 30-40% of the playbook RR used in his final season at WV. The only explanation for this is that the players to properly run the system didn't exist, as well as issues with execution. I see the offense taking a huge step forward next year, and I keep my fingers crossed that the defense can do the same.

In response to your 30-40% of the offense. Could it also be that the defense didn't use all their plays? I am hoping this is the case. I like to see the word "system" used again. When RR was first hired, this word was used quite often. Did minor and Brown fit the "system" I am not sure, but minor could sure run people over when he was healthy. I mean system or not, he could play. Although Smith weighs about 160-165, I sure would like to see him take on a "rage-like" running style for next year. Wouldn't you shit if he started running people over like minor, just to prove us wrong? Year three under Barwis is going to be nuts. Just think of how mycuh stronger the players will be

I think we all should follow his advice and go back and watch that Oklahoma game. After that there should be no doubt because that was a legit OU team.

I've noticed every time I make a comment disagreeing with you someone mysterious negs me. Also, upvoting your own posts is redundant and pathetic. A word of advice: Brian might just give you a shitload of points if you annoy enough people, you can ask Bouje* for advice on this. *now rehabilitated

I'm not negging anyone bro. Take a look through the thread. Even people agreeing with me are getting negged. I've been getting negged like crazy lately for seemingly every post i make, regardless of quality or content. My best guess is that a number of people are negging you for even responding to me.

FWIW, if you happen to be looking at the "I'm a chick" thread, I let everyone know I was going to neg everyone for posting in that thread. FTR, I also negged myself. But yeah, it's the off season, it's bound to happen. Enough with the mgopoints talk. [insert generic fight club "1st rule about..." joke] [insert generic fight club "2nd rule about..." joke]
