A humble request

Submitted by BiSB on

The die is cast. If we somehow didn't before, everyone knows the deal now.

So my request is this: be excellent to each other. There's no need to get into fights on the board tonight. There's no reason to be pissed with your loved ones. There's no reason to go tweeting at players or decommitted recruits. Be disappointed, drink a beer, and then go play with your kids or hang at the bar with friends or chat with people about better and happier times.

I like you guys (and girls, but you're mostly guys). I've enjoyed hanging with you through this mess. It's been nice to be the band on the Titanic playing "Nearer My God to Thee." So let's see it through with whatever sanity we can muster.

Keep Brady Hoke

Think about it people. The Minnesota game is being used as a basis for most people wanting to fire Hoke. Minnesota is a great team, and is on the verge of making the B10 Championship game. We need to realize this, and give Hoke the extra year he deserves.

Man, I'm heading out for a fun evening in about an hour here. If there's anything that these last five to seven years have done, it's that they've given me the ability to just turn it off and go one with my life. If you're still letting these losses make you a complete and total drag, you're doing it wrong.

I just... can't even.  I'll never forget the look in my wife's eyes tonight when I could do nothing to contain my laughter when telling her that we have to beat OSU to be bowl eligible.  I mean, she used to HATE how much Michigan football consumed me during the season.  Now, she can't help but pity me and the indifference I've had towards it for a good chunk of this year.  I've needed that indifference just to remain sane.  God, I just hope we can get to a point where the thought of a game on Saturday doesn't fill me with dread.

I think everyone is resigned to the reality of the situation now.  I really doubt it will take any additional coaxing.

If there is anyone still in the Hoke camp, they are simply trying to stir the pot.  He seems to be a good guy and I wish him well.  I feel bad about the situation.  Brady has been paid hansomely for his effort and will land on his feet.

In an odd way I feel like a weight has been lifted from the program.

indifferent at this point. I really like Hoke, but it is over. A clean break up is all that is left. We should support Hoke for his efforts, because I can't even imagine what he is feeling. He gave his all, but in the end it wasn't enough. Good luck to Hoke in his future endeavors. To Hackett: Please bring us and this Michigan family, our savior!

It is amazing how something, only a few years ago, brought us so much joy with some frustration, now just contains numbing carelessness.
Each loss the last 7 or so years seems normal, feels like we deserved it, or we knew it was coming.
Wins are miracles.
Surprises.
Perks.
Losses are no longer a shock.

Realizing this hurts more than the losses do.
Walking out of the stadium today, I was thinking about how it used to feel after a loss.
Loosing doesn't even feel the same anymore you guys.
Our expectations, hopes, goals have shifted so much, they have become just words. Pipe dreams we secretly know can't be met.
Everything we used to know as Michigan football is long gone.

This season has been pretty disappointing, but I've learned a lot about patience, at this point, I don't have much choice. I just hope we make the right hire this time.

I mentioned both of these things on other threads, but they sorta fit here.

First, this coaching staff has finally drained me of my passion for watching Michigan football.  I didn't even scream at the TV, despite questionable calls, non-calls and the typical WTF non-performace of the offense.

Second, there are plenty of other sites where snark and name-calling toward players, coaches and other posters will be the norm tonight.  I agree that it certainly isn't needed here.

It's weird, but i guess I'm surprised how much people are so invested. I'm a guy who pretty much went to Michigan because I grew up watching their football team (never bothered applying anywhere else, that's just where I was going to go). I've been watching for forever and never expected us to lose a game until the Citrus bowl against Tebow.

I became totally apathetic after sitting through the Utah game. I've just been going through the motions for the rest of the year, but really have had 0 feelings other than being glad we fired Brandon.

I had a point when I started typing this, but I don't care enough to remember what it is.

Thanks for listening

I've been resigned to this fate for a little bit now.  It's better than the anger and spoiled days and such.  Things will get better.  Now it's just a matter of being patient.

I think we all know Hoke is gone. The problem is the future may not be better. I fully expect Michigan to find a new way to screw up the coaching search. Thank God for John Beilein.
