I probably won't remember that tomorrow's NSD until I get home from work. I try not to let decisions of high school students impact my life any more than absolutely necessary.
How will you spend your NSD???
No Shoes Day?
Neanderthal Sex Dillema
Which would be a really cool name for a band
I will be sitting by mine all day.
What's the number I'll fax you my LOI!!
Well, if whatever hits Columbus that's supposed to hit us, I'll probably be at home and having myself a good old fashioned throwback snowday of playing Nintendo.
I will enjoy having a life...
Working. Cuz I needs moneys.
I will check at the end of the day to make sure that everyone signed, but were really not in it for anyone anymore. Kind of a disapointing end to the recruiting cycle, though I am not suprised.
Kate Upton and I are having brunch and then going on a hike. A usual Wednesday.
Don't break them up and ruin his season again!
Normally... School, homework, and then Michigan bball at 6:30... Will check once and only once just for any surprises, good and/or bad.
I'm taking the day off. This is my holiday.
- Wake up at 5:30
- Get White Castle breakfast and bring it home
- MGoBlueTV signing day special from 6:30-9am while updating the 'books as the faxes come in and each become official.
- Catch up on the WTKA signing day morning show with the podcasts and watch the ESPN coverage until the presser at 2.
- WTKA Signing Day party after
- Michigan Basketball vs nebraska at 6:30
What's more, he might do better to actually go to school instead of playing hookie to watch faxes come in over the internet all morning.
Don't act like you NEVER skipped a day your senior year of HS.
I've worked my ass to be able to take a day off once in awhile.
No, actually, I didn't. And if I did, it certainly wouldn't have been for anything so frivolous as sitting around eating White Castle and watching a fax machine tell me where other people are going to college.
Well then. With that I would like to say that you and I couldn't be anymore different.
But the world would be boring if everyone was the same.
Skipped quite frequently. Sledding, smoking, partying in the middle of the afternoon, weekly trips to Cedar Point -- not sit around and watch recruiting.
I've worked my ass to be able to take a day off once in awhile.
When I called "in sick" on my first job - a summer job after HS graduation at Meijer - my dad told me something I'll never forget. In 25 years, he never called in sick.
And I sure as hell wasn't working my ass off compared to him or anything really.
And high school is unequivocally not working your ass off.
And if you're going to skip a day in HS, you better at least be trying to touch a boob somewhere in there. Not "watching" RECRUITING.
/oldman'd even though I'm in my 20s
Yeah.....there isn't any boob touching going on in my life.
Also, obligatory "don't skip school" PSA:
glad I listened to the warning my parents gave ME some 30+ years ago about following the crowd!
I didn't even read whose post it was, and somehow I knew this was you...
I admit to following recruiting at least to a certain point, albeit somewhat passively, but generally, I will just look at Michigan's list at the end of the day, see who signed and when and that's more or less that for me. Wednesday is generally a terrible day for me to follow anything because the staff meetings with both my own group and my fellow supervisors are that day, as well as two Continuous Improvement update sessions.
In the mod role, I am sure there will be moments where either myself or others will intervene in recruiting-related threads. Actually, I started following recruiting more once I became a moderator here so I could anticipate issues.
although the part you didn't mention was the sheer amount of recruiting content and comments on the site. There's a lot of stuff I read now that I never did before.
Live a normal day because my life doesn't center around 18 year olds making decisions on where they want to go to college.
gonna get up around 10, drop a big deuce, smoke a bowl and fire up the puter. If McDowell committs here, might crack a 12 pack. If not, smoke another bowl hit the hot tub in snorkle and fins around lunch, like any other day.
This is why. You win, sir.
Can we swap schedules?
I have snorkle envy.
No class untill 3:30, so waking up at around 7. Will have the MGoBlueTV signing day special on the laptop, as well as Twitter, MGoBlog and Wolverine247 tabs open. And ESPNU on the TV.
Nasty shit at All the recruits that don't pick us and making sure that I am Facebook friends with the ones that do
Update my My Space page as I rock out to Creed.
Gonna go hang a State banner on Mrs McDowell's front porch.
It's just another day. Recruiting is of absolutely no interest to me whatsoever, and I find the whole exercise of watching a live fax machine feed to be creepy.
It's not a constant webcam of a fax machine.
Watch last year's show. It's a show hosted by Marcus Ray talking about the players and they OCCASIONALLY put the fax machine on when something is happening.
because, you know, it's his birthday
I will be sending out constant snarky tweets about fax machines
Off, I got my subs my beers and my athlon guide ready to go. I'm expecting hand ,fournette , and mcdowell to flip to michigan early.
Do things get as crazy as they do in Belein household when you have subs?
We'll be doing a liveblog starting around 10:00 tomorrow.
I'll probably check rivals or something after I get home from work, see where some uncommitted guys went and call it a day.
Working. It's Wednesday, and it's not a holiday. I'll hope for a surprise, but I'm not expecting much. I will listen to WTKA when I can.
I think Malik McDowell's mom's comments officially turned me totally off from recruiting forever.
It's becoming way too much of a shit show.
I have an 8 am tomorrow but we're getting 7-10 inches of snow and this professor lives kind of far away and cancelled class last time we had some snow, so I'll get up and check MGoBlog, Wolverine247, and watch ESPNU while I pretend to get some homework done.
Arrived at Disneyworld tonight, first day in the park tomorrow. Not concerned about missing NSD breaking news, but I'll check in tomorrow night.
NSD would have me excited but after seeing the lack of results on the field, I'm starting to become indifferent to it. We had enough talent on the roster to win >7 games and go better than 27 for 27 but it didn't translate on the field. We could have all 5* or 1* in the world but only one thing matters. Wins.
religiously on twitter... the fact that I am still in high school makes it okay, right?
In the afternoon i'm heading over to another school to be at one of my good friends sign- he is going to Army.
That's cool - support your buddy
Honestly I will be "sitting at my desk working and ignoring all things recruiting related" and by that I mean F5ing MGoBlog all freakin day.
I'll be knee deep in paperwork on the job but will look up to catch a glimpse of mgoblog everytime I go for a cup of coffee which means I'll spend half the day on mgoblog.
Eating subs. Trust me... it will be crazy.
I have set up a media center in my family room. One 80" HD screen surrounded by multiple smaller screens for maximum national coverage. I replaced our current satellite dish with the Very Large Array, on loan from Magdalena, New Mexico, which will allow me to pick up feeds from the SEC, PAC 10, BIG 10, and the ACC. I will have a table filled with deli sandwiches, salty snacks, green smoothies for energy, and a cooler full of diet coke and orange popsicles. I have also installed surroundsound and a cheering track, which is similar to a laugh track, but will mimic the sound of a cheering college football crowd whenever a letter of intent is received.
That's an impressive setup for the Crystal Palace. Why not the usual root beer in the fridge?
Wolverine Devotee is on his way, mmmkay?
Working. Going to school. Being a normal person.
Level 3 snow emergency on the way for Lucas County. So, mostly staying indoors and studying for a hell-exam on Friday.
Working tonight, will get home at 7am. Drinking, MGOBLOG, and WTKA till I pass out.
Wake up to watch basketball game.
It's sometimes nice being single with no children.
Blues and doughnuts, eh?
just confirmed for me... SNOW DAY!!!!
I'll check in here a few times during the day, but that's about it. Not too different from any other day, but with some additional interest.
PEPPERS YOU GET TO THAT FAX MACHINE STAT!
I was sure this was a Wolverine Devotee post since he took the day off and it is a holiday for him
I'll be checking my phone in between teaching classes. All the excitement is typically before noon.
Teaching and checking phone between classes. I'm sure I'll have some time before school as well considering I will leave an hour early on account of the snow.
This should be anyone's response that is out of college.
Of course I say this and I know one of my co-workers will say something to me about it.
I've got 2 clients homes requiring assments done today...all the while working my phone for the latest NSD news.
